Jerry Jones makes business decision to improve a key position in the Dallas Cowboys offense

The Dallas Cowboys are making decisive changes to address their running game woes after a disappointing 2024 season. The team ranked among the league’s worst in rushing statistics, finishing 24th in attempts, 27th in yards, and last in touchdowns. With Rico Dowdle and Ezekiel Elliott already gone, the Cowboys continued their purge by waiving running back Malik Davis, as well as offensive linemen Jack Anderson and Earl Bostick, and linebacker Brock Mogensen.

Malik Davis, who spent the 2024 season on the practice squad, had minimal impact during his time with the Cowboys. He appeared in 12 games in 2022 and three in 2023, tallying 161 rushing yards, one touchdown, and 63 receiving yards over his career. Despite his efforts, Davis was unable to break through and secure a role in the team’s backfield rotation. His release signals the Cowboys’ intent to completely revamp their running back room.

Shedeur Sanders arrives at Browns facility in casual fit

The Cowboys have taken proactive steps to strengthen their rushing attack this offseason. They signed free agents Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders, two versatile players capable of reinvigorating the team’s ground game. Additionally, Dallas invested in the future by drafting Texas standout Jaydon Blue and Clemson’s Phil Mafah. With these moves, the Cowboys appear determined to leave behind the struggles of their 2024 campaign and build a more dynamic backfield.

More questions at running back

Deuce Vaughn, who has shown potential in his role, now faces uncertainty regarding his spot on the roster. With the influx of talent at running back, Vaughn’s position may be in jeopardy as the team prepares for the upcoming season. The Cowboys’ willingness to overhaul the entire running back room demonstrates their urgency to turn their fortunes around and compete at a higher level in 2025.

The focus on reshaping the running back position comes at a pivotal time for Dallas, as they look to balance their offense and complement their aerial attack. By prioritizing depth and versatility in the backfield, the Cowboys aim to elevate their rushing game to support their overall offensive strategy. Fans will be closely watching how the new additions perform in training camp and preseason action.

As the Cowboys move forward with their revamped backfield, the spotlight will be on how these changes translate on the field. The team looks to change the approach and reinvigorate their rushing attack and push them toward postseason success. Only time will tell, but Dallas seems committed to making significant strides in 2025.

Jalen Brunson sends Knicks fans, celebrities into a frenzy with game-winning 3-pointer to eliminate Pistons

Getty Images The New York Knicks are moving on to the second round after they survived the Detroit Pistons, 116-113, in Game 6 on the strength of a Jalen Brunson game-winning 3-pointer with 4.3 seconds to play. After leading by as many as 15, and 12 in the fourth quarter, the Knicks saw themselves on the wrong side of a 19-point swing to go down seven with 2:35 to play. But Brunson just wouldn't let his team go down, scoring seven of New York's final 11 points to close the series.  That is just a nasty slam-on-the-brakes move to absolutely lose Ausar Thompson, an electric defender who gave Brunson fits in Game 5 and had snuffed out a Brunson isolation with a clean strip a minute earlier. That's how you win Clutch Player of the Year, as Brunson just did. There are […]

Bruno Lage vs Eagle Football: The £6m lawsuit for the ‘job offer’ that never came

It was Manchester City chief executive Ferran Soriano who first noticed the similarities between the business of football and what Walt Disney started a century ago.“Disney uses its characters, such as Mickey Mouse, to produce audiovisual content, sell T-shirts and instigate theme parks,” he wrote in Goal: The Ball Doesn’t Go In By Chance in 2012. “Manchester United might not have had Mickey Mouse, but it did have David Beckham, who used to sell a whole lot of television programmes (football matches), T-shirts, and to turn Old Trafford into a lucrative theme park.”AdvertisementThis “Disneyfication” of football is the theory underpinning the multi-club ownership model that Soriano has implemented at City Football Group, the holding company that owns stakes in 13 clubs, most notably Manchester City. But a £6million ($8m) legal case filed at London’s Commercial Court in March has revealed that […]
