Seit November 2024 hat der HC Erlangen in der Daikin Handball-Bundesliga kein Heimspiel mehr gewonnen.
Donnerstagabend haben die Mittelfranken ihren Minuslauf in eigener Halle eindrucksvoll mit dem 34:25 (14:13) gegen die Rhein-Neckar Löwen beendet. Und damit vorerst Abstiegsrang 17 verlassen.

Rhein-Neckar Löwen verstecken Handball-Star
Überraschung gleich zu Spielbeginn. Bei den Gästen steht der Schwede Gustav Davidsson auf der Spielmacher-Position, Nationalspieler Juri Knorr sitzt mit einem gelben Handtuch auf den Schultern nur auf der Bank. Ganz weit hinten und ein gutes Stück entfernt von der markierten Wechselzone.
Hintergrund: Knorr hat unter der Woche drei Tage wegen einer erneuten Erkältung nicht trainiert, es ist fraglich, ob seine Kräfte schon wieder reichen. Gerade gegen Erlangen ist das wichtig, die Mittelfranken sind für ihr hartes Abwehrspiel bekannt.
Da könnte mangelnde Fitness zu weiteren Schmerzen führen. In der ersten Hälfte kommt Knorr nur zu Kurz-Einsätzen auf die Platte. Und seine Kollegen tun sich schwer gegen sich aufbäumende Gastgeber, die eine knappe, aber verdiente 14:13-Führung mit in die Pause nehmen. Obwohl sie sich fünf technische Fehler leisten.

Noch schlimmer: Der gerade erst genesene Sebastian Heymann knickt in der Abwehr mit dem rechten Knöchel und muss runter (37.). Seltsam: Erlangen verliert plötzlich den Spielfaden, die Gäste holen – weiter ohne Knorr – wieder auf. Um sich dann die nächste Schwächephase zu erlauben.
Zehn Minuten vor dem Ende führt der HCE 26:22, die Arena in Nürnberg kocht. Die Löwen bringen Knorr, er soll zumindest im Angriff beim Umbiegen helfen. Aus diesem Plan wird innerhalb weniger Minuten das 30:23 für Erlangen (54.).
Erlangen holt Luft im Keller, die Rhein-Neckar Löwen sollten sich solche Auftritte nicht allzu oft erlauben und die Saison trotz aller Verletzten-Probleme seriös zu Ende spielen.
Erlangens Kapitän Christopher Bissel am Dyn-Mikro: „Das ist heute wie eine Gefühls-Explosion. Bei uns hat keiner Bock, nächstes Jahr in der 2. Liga anzutreten.“ Mannheims Jannik Kohlbacher: „Das war ein Energie-Spiel, uns haben ein paar Körner gefehlt. Aber wir dürfen hier nicht so auftreten.“
