This coming Saturday, May 3, the Churchill Downs racetrack will once again be decked out to host the 151st edition of the traditional Kentucky Derby, the world’s most famous horse race that is eagerly awaited on the calendar
Although historically it was held in the middle of the month from 1875 to 1931, the running of the race on the first Saturday in May is a tradition that has been going on for almost a century and was only interrupted by the covid-19 pandemic in 2020, when it was held in September.

20 horses with their jockeys will take to the track to seek the glory of crossing the finish line in this prestigious race, which was first run on May 17, 1875, always at Churchill Downs, and today offers a total purse of $5 million, $3.1 million for the winner, $1 million for second place and $800,000 for third place.
