Jose Ramirez singled in Steven Kwan with the tying run, stole second base and scored on Angel Martinez’s hit through the right side of the infield in the 10th inning, giving the Cleveland Guardians a 4-3 victory over the visiting Minnesota Twins on Thursday.

The stolen base was the 250th in the career of six-time All-Star Ramirez, who became the first primary third baseman in major league history to have 250 career home runs and 250 steals. He is the 24th player overall in the statistical club and the first to accomplish it with the Cleveland franchise.

Minnesota took a 3-2 lead in the top of the 10th on Jonah Bride’s sacrifice fly off Kolby Allard (1-0) that scored automatic runner Mickey Gasper. Justin Topa (1-2) pitched the 10th for the Twins in the game that included two rain delays totaling 2 hours and 23 minutes.

Kyle Manzardo singled home Gabriel Arias in the first inning and Jhonkensy Noel hammered a 450-foot homer in the fourth for Cleveland, which went 6-4 on a 10-game homestand against the Yankees, Red Sox and Twins. They were the Guardians’ only hits until the ninth.

White Sox 8, Brewers 0

Four Chicago pitchers combined for nine strikeouts while allowing just two hits as the White Sox cruised to a home win over Milwaukee.

Sean Burke fanned five and held the Brewers to those two hits over six innings for Chicago, which snapped a three-game skid. Offensively, Luis Robert Jr. led the way with two hits, including a double, and four RBIs. Miguel Vargas added a three-run homer and Andrew Benintendi had a single and an RBI.

Joey Ortiz and Eric Haase accounted for Milwaukee’s hits, with the latter belting a double in the fifth inning.

Athletics 3, Rangers 0

An early RBI from Miguel Andujar and one each by Jacob Wilson and Luis Urias was all the Athletics needed in their road win over Texas in Arlington.

Andujar and Wilson both had singles and doubles while Tyler Soderstrom added two hits for the Athletics. Jeffrey Springs held the Rangers to just two hits over six innings and four relievers followed with three innings of one-hit ball to cap the shutout.

Wyatt Langford, Marcus Semien and Jake Burger each had a single for Texas, which was held scoreless for the final 14 innings of the series.

Cubs 8, Pirates 3

Seiya Suzuki hit two home runs and drove in three runs to lead Chicago over host Pittsburgh.

Dansby Swanson and Kyle Tucker, who has eight homers this season, went deep off Paul Skenes to tie the game in the fifth before Suzuki followed Tucker with a shot to left to make it 3-2 Cubs. Suzuki added his ninth homer of the season in the seventh when he hit a two-run shot off reliever Kyle Nicolas over the left field fence.

The three home runs were the most Skenes has allowed in a game in his brief career. Bryan Reynolds drove in two runs for the Pirates.

Reds 9, Cardinals 1

Jose Trevino had a home run and three RBIs, Spencer Steer homered and singled, and Cincinnati salvaged a series split with a dominant home win over St. Louis.

Santiago Espinal also had two hits for the Reds while also driving in two runs, while Noelvi Marte smacked two singles and had an RBI.

The Cardinals managed just three hits — one apiece by Brendan Donovan, Nolan Arenado and Yohel Pozo — and plated their lone run in the top of the third on an Elly De La Cruz error that trimmed the St. Louis gap to 2-1 before Cincinnati scored seven straight.

Diamondbacks 4, Mets 2

Making his 150th career start, Zac Gallen struck out eighth and held New York to just two hits over six innings to lead Arizona to a road win over the Mets.

Geraldo Perdomo homered and singled and Tim Tawa had a home run for the Diamondbacks, who became the first team to win a series over the Mets in New York since August 2024. Alek Thomas also had two hits for Arizona.

Juan Soto blasted two home runs, his first long balls at Citi Field since joining the Mets, to record his 24th career multi-homer game. Following Soto’s second home run to cut the Diamondbacks’ lead to 3-2, New York threatened for more in the eighth by putting runners on second and third with one out. Kevin Ginkel, though, recorded two strikeouts to end the inning.

Royals 8, Rays 2

Bobby Witt Jr. slugged a two-run homer, extending his career-best hitting streak to 22 games, and had three RBIs as Kansas City completed a three-game road sweep over Tampa Bay.

In the Royals’ season-high 15-hit output, Maikel Garcia was 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI and three stolen bases. Vinnie Pasquantino had two hits with a double and two RBIs. Freddie Fermin added two hits with a double and two runs as the Royals moved to 11-1 when posting at least four runs.

For the Rays, Yandy Diaz popped a solo homer, while Jonathan Aranda was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Nationals 4, Phillies 2

Brad Lord worked five solid innings for his first career win as visiting Washington avoided a three-game sweep against Philadelphia.

A 25-year-old rookie, Lord (1-3) allowed two runs and six hits with a walk and four strikeouts. Jose Ferrer logged two innings of relief before giving way to Jorge Lopez in the eighth and Kyle Finnegan in the ninth. Luis Garcia Jr. had two hits and an RBI and also stole home for the Nationals.

Trea Turner (3-for-4, run) led Philadelphia’s offensive attack, while Nick Castellanos chipped in two hits and an RBI for the Phillies, who had won their previous four games. Taijuan Walker was charged with four runs (one earned) and four hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Blue Jays 4, Red Sox 2

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning and Toronto defeated visiting Boston.

Guerrero’s homer in the rubber match of the three-game series came against Justin Slaten (0-2), who also took the loss in the 10th inning on Wednesday. Daulton Varsho hit a solo homer for Toronto, which got a solid start from Jose Berrios, who allowed two runs, seven hits and one walk while striking out eight in 6 2/3 innings.

Boston’s Alex Bregman extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a two-run double in the fifth. Starter Tanner Houck completed seven innings, allowing one run, four hits and no walks with six strikeouts and a hit batsman.
