Rauswurf kurz vor dem Wochenende in der Daikin Handball-Bundesliga!
Die HSG Wetzlar hat sich nach der 18:30-Pleite beim SC DHfK Leipzig von Trainer Frank Carstens (53) und Co-Trainer Filip Mirkulovski (41) getrennt. Für die Mittelhessen war es die achte Niederlage aus den letzten neun Spielen, Carstens Vertrag wäre wie der von Mirkulovski am 30. Juni ohnehin ausgelaufen.

Handball-Klub feuert Trainer
„Die sportliche Entwicklung in den vergangenen Wochen entspricht nicht den Ansprüchen, die wir als Klub haben“, erklärt Jasmin Camdzic, der Sportliche Leiter der HSG Wetzlar. „Es stehen noch sechs Spiele in dieser Saison an. Wir wollen uns erfolgreich aus dieser Spielzeit verabschieden. Das sind wir allen Sponsoren, Partnern, Fans, aber auch uns selbst schuldig. Deshalb sehen wir uns zu diesem Schritt gezwungen und erhoffen uns dadurch einen wichtigen Impuls für den Schlussspurt in der Liga.“
Camdzic weiter: „Wir müssen uns einfach besser präsentieren als über weite Strecken der vergangenen Wochen. Wir haben immer wieder viele Gespräche geführt und die Leistungen der Mannschaft offen und ehrlich auch mit dem Trainerteam analysiert. Jetzt sind wir zu der Überzeugung gelangt, dass ein Wechsel auf der Trainerposition notwendig ist.“
[–>Der Nachfolge steht bereits fest. Der frühere Weltklasse-Handballer Momir Ilic (43) steigt früher als ursprünglich geplant in Wetzlar ein. Der Serbe stand seit Langem als neuer Trainer der HSG ab 1. Juli fest. Zuletzt trainiert er den ungarischen Top-Klub One Veszprem KC.
Camdzic: „Wir sind froh, dass sich Momir Ilic sofort bereit erklärt hat, die Aufgabe kurzfristig zu übernehmen. Die anstehende Länderspielpause gibt ihm nun die Gelegenheit, mit der Mannschaft intensiv zu arbeiten und sie gezielt auf den Saisonendspurt vorzubereiten.“ Bis Saisonende wird der Sportchef als Co-Trainer von Ilic fungieren.

Chicago Cubs Agree to 1-Year Contract With First Baseman Carlos Santana
