The Diversity Visa (DV) 2026 Program, also known as the visa lottery, is a unique opportunity for citizens of countries with a low rate of migration to the United States. This process grants up to 55,000 permanent resident visas to randomly selected individuals, but certain requirements must be met.
The results of the draw for the fiscal year 2026 will be available from May 3, 2025 until September 30, 2026, and can only be consulted through the official site: dvprogram.state.gov. You will not receive emails or phone calls notifying you if you are a winner, as the only authorized channel to verify the status of your application is the Entrant Status Check tool on the website.

To check your result, you will need:
- Your confirmation number
- Last name
- Year of birth
- Authenticate verification characters
If you have lost your confirmation number, you can recover it by providing your personal information in the appropriate form on the portal.
It is important to note that being selected does not automatically guarantee a visa. Selection gives you the opportunity to move on to the next step in the process, which includes completing the DS-260 form, attending a consular interview and meeting the legal and eligibility requirements.
Applicants must have at least a high school education or two years of recent work experience in a skilled trade. In addition, only citizens of countries with low historical immigration can participate. Countries such as Mexico, Colombia, El Salvador, India and Venezuela are excluded this year.
Avoid scams
The US government does not charge to enter the lottery or request advance payments. Always keep control of your confirmation number and do not share it with third parties. If you are selected, act quickly, as visas are limited and will only be issued until September 30, 2026.
