WNBA star Angel Reese made a memorable return to Baton Rouge on May 2 as the Chicago Sky faced Brazil’s national team in a preseason game at LSU’s Pete Maravich Assembly Center (PMAC).
This event marked Reese’s first game back in the city since leading LSU to its first NCAA Championship in 2023. The game was part of the WNBA’s expanded preseason schedule, which includes 14 free-to-stream games via League Pass.
Reese, known for her on-court prowess and off-court fashion, showcased both during her homecoming. She donned a Thom Browne two-piece twill miniskirt suit, featuring the brand’s signature 4-Bar Classic Sport Coat priced at $2,090 and a pleated miniskirt costing $1,566.92.
Completing her ensemble, Reese carried a $4,900 Louis Vuitton Keepall Bandouliere bag, blending athleticism with high-end fashion.
Dominant performance
Despite the preseason nature of the game, Reese delivered an impressive performance, scoring 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in just 16 minutes of play. Her presence was a testament to her readiness for the upcoming WNBA season, where she aims to build on her standout rookie year.
Off the court, Reese has cultivated a strong personal brand, earning endorsements from major companies like McDonald’s, Amazon, and Reebok, with a signature shoe set to release in 2026. Her estimated net worth stands at $2 million, reflecting her influence both in sports and in the fashion and business worlds.
Reese’s position as an influencer will see her return to the Met Gala. She attended the event last year, and after the game against Brazil, she posted a picture of a fashionable pregame outfit with a clock that is counting down until the annual red carpet event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which takes place on Monday.
After her appearance at the 2024 Met Gala, Reese showed that she can remain focused on her game as she dropped 13 points and five rebounds less than 24 hours later in a game against the New York Liberty.
For the 2025 Met Gala, Reese is a member of the Costume Institute Benefit host committee which also features athletes like Simone Biles and Sha’Charri Richardson. They will help plan the event, themed around the announced dress code, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Culture,” alongside other celebrities like Spike Lee, Regina King and Usher.
Following the game against Brazil, the Chicago Sky’s preseason schedule continues with matchups against the Minnesota Lynx on May 6 and May 10. The regular season opener is set for May 17 against the Indiana Fever at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, promising an exciting start to the 2025 WNBA season.
Reese’s return to Baton Rouge was more than just a game; it was a celebration of her journey from LSU standout to WNBA star, blending athletic excellence with a burgeoning personal brand.
