Endlich wieder ein Sieg – HSV-Party in Darmstadt!

Aufatmen beim HSV!

Steelers All-Quarter Century Team: Several current and future Hall of Famers headline legendary roster

Already the team of the 1970s, the Pittsburgh Steelers have added to their rich history during the first 25 years of the 21st century. Since 2000, the Steelers have won two more Super Bowls and in the process became the first franchise to win the big game six times. Pittsburgh has also captured three AFC titles, 10 division titles, 16 playoff berths and compiled 19 winning seasons over that span. Since 2000, the Steelers have had just one losing season (2003). Pittsburgh's current run of 21 consecutive non-losing seasons is tied for the longest such streak in NFL history. Along with winning, the Steelers have continued their tradition when it comes to having Hall of Fame-caliber players. Pittsburgh has already had three players from this century inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and that number will undoubtedly increase in a […]

Shohei Ohtani, Fernando Tatis Jr. hit by pitches as Dodgers, Padres nearly avoid brawl in heated NL West game

In the late innings of their seventh head-to-head game in a span of 11 days, the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers finally ran out of patience with each other. The two National League West rivals, never particularly fond of each other under any circumstances, exchanged hit batsmen -- star hit batsmen -- and nearly brawled during an eventual 5-3 San Diego win. In all, 10 total batters were hit in those seven games, including eight in the just-concluded four-game set. Hostilities finally bubbled over when Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. was hit on the right hand in the ninth inning of Thursday's series finale by a fastball from Dodgers rookie Jack Little:  Tatis, who's been hit by Dodger pitchers three times this season, exited the game and was sent for X-rays, which were inconclusive. Regardless of any intent, any […]

Red Sox and Rafael Devers meet for awkward reunion in San Francisco, plus more MLB notes

The Red Sox's Rafael Devers saga will likely come to a close this weekend. Boston, which traded the star slugger on Sunday evening, will face Devers' new team, the Giants, for a three-game set in San Francisco. The breakup between Devers and the Sox is unfortunate, layered with personal ties. Family was involved on both sides in a split that felt unprecedented -- not because it happened, but because of how quickly it did.You know the story by now. Devers refused to play first base this season after being moved off third base and into the designated hitter role to make room for Alex Bregman, Boston's splashy free agency signing. The Red Sox never communicated to Devers that they were pursuing Bregman in the first place, and that silence fractured the relationship. When manager Alex Cora was asked during spring training […]

Free MLB player props, odds for June 20: Use Max Fried, Elly De La Cruz, Corbin Carroll for Friday MLB picks

After signing a $218 million contract that is the biggest ever for a lefthanded pitcher, Max Fried is living up to his historic deal in his first year in pinstripes. Fried has given up 2 ER or fewer in 14 of 15 starts this season and has a line of 1.5 earned runs allowed in the Friday MLB player props. However, playing a surging Baltimore squad that is on a 16-8 run, SportsLine's model forecasts Fried to give up more than 1.5 earned runs. Start of college football schedule could move up to Week 0 as leaders adjust to expanded calendar

Getty Images In an effort to curtail additional wear and tear from an extended college football season, college leaders are considering an earlier kickoff date that would move the beginning of the year from Week 1 to what is now Week 0, CBS Sports' Brandon Marcello confirms. According to NCAA bylaw 17.11, universities wishing to play during Week 0 ahead of the more traditional Week 1 of Labor Day Weekend must be granted a waiver, but bringing back an earlier kickoff date as a permanent fixture is gaining steam as the entire college football calendar is examined. "Eliminating waivers across all NCAA areas" has been primary talking point in recent years, per Yahoo Sports, but that involves difficult-to-navigate bureaucratic red tape. With the expanded College Football Playoff and litany of bowl games in addition to the recruiting calendar in December, the […]
