Steve Kerr is not new to controversy when it comes to the disagreements he has with the calling of the refs during games, especially when it comes to playoff basketball, where every single play counts and teams that come on top usually win with small but meaningful actions on the court.
During game 6 of the Western Conference first round series of the Warriors against the Rockets, Kerr displayed a roller coaster of emotions after a call against Golden State frustrated him. The former NBA champion went from laughing to screaming at an official, who couldn’t helped to show surprise at the fast changing mood of the Warriors coach.
“I didn’t like our first half, with the turnovers. I think we had 10, and that’s the key to the whole series is our ball security. So the 10 turnovers in the first half got us off to a rough start. With that said, we’re down 2 going into the 4th, and I thought the key play was a four-point play to start the quarter,” Kerr said to reporters after the game.
A tough challenge for the Warriors if they want to advance
The Golden State Warriors dropped their second consecutive game to the Rockets at Chase Center, forcing a crucial game 7 that will be played at Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. The loss snapped the Warriors‘ streak of six-straight home playoff wins vs. the Rockets.
Despite the failure to close the series at home, Jimmy Butler recorded 27 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and one block, while making 12-of-14 attempts from the free throw line, becoming the first Warrior to do so while making 12 free throws in franchise-postseason history.
Houston coach Ime Udoka improved to 5-1 when facing elimination. Golden State‘s Steve Kerr, meanwhile, is 7-0 in first-round playoff series. Sunday will be a really tough battle and whoever wins will have to face a very well rested Minnesota Timberwolves team that’s ready to make a deep in the playoffs.
