Bayerns Sportvorstand Max Eberl sagte nach dem Match in Leipzig: „Wir haben eine bescheidene erste Halbzeit gespielt. Dann sind wir aber bravourös zurückgekommen. Die Stimmung „in der Kabine ist sehr positiv“, sagte Eberl weiter, „wir sehen das Glas als halbvoll an, da wir nach dem 0:2 zurückgekommen sind. Leipzig hat eine schwierige Phase, aber sie sind eine gute Mannschaft. Wir haben sie am Ende dominiert. Nun wollen wir die Meisterschaft zu Hause perfekt machen, die volle Konzentration gilt jetzt Gladbach. Wir freuen uns aber trotzdem über den Punkt hier, auch wenn das Ende natürlich ärgerlich war.“
[–>RB hatte durch Tore von Benjamin Sesko und Lukas Klostermann bereits 2:0 geführt. Eric Dier und Michael Olise glichen binnen einer Minute in der zweiten Halbzeit aus, ehe Leroy Sané kurz vor Schluss das 3:2 erzielte. Yussuf Poulsen traf in der fünften Minute der Nachspielzeit zum 3:3.
Leipzig-Trainer Zsolt Löw hatte für den späten Ausgleich zwischenzeitlich auf überirdische Hilfe gehofft. „Beim 3:2 stand ich da und fragte, wo bist du Fußballgott? Er hat dann nochmal kurz runtergeschaut und uns das 3:3 geschenkt.“ Löw weiter: „Das war super wichtig für uns. Wir haben extrem investiert, sind 123 Kilometer gelaufen. Das sind drei mehr als die Bayern.“
