Der Krisen-Verein ruft einen alten Helden zur Hilfe.

Nach der zweiten Niederlage in Folge, ausgerechnet gegen direkte Keller-Konkurrenz Winterthur, brodelt es bei den Zürchnern. Der Schweizer Rekordmeister taumelt weiter Richtung Abgrund – und zieht jetzt die Notbremse!

Sportchef Stephan Schwarz (54) muss nach nur 13 Monaten seinen Platz räumen. Am Montagmittag wird seine Entlassung publik – und am Abend folgt schon der nächste Paukenschlag: Alain Sutter (57) wird neuer Sportchef beim Grasshopper Club Zürich (GC).

Sutter ist kein Unbekannter im Letzigrund: Mit GC wurde er Meister, holte Pokale, prägte eine Ära. Auch in der Bundesliga hat sich Sutter einen Namen gemacht. Als Spieler beim FC Bayern kickte er unter Giovanni Trapattoni in München.

Jetzt soll er retten, was noch zu retten ist. Der 57-Jährige bringt Erfahrung, Charisma und jede Menge Ideen mit. Sechs Jahre lang arbeitete er zuletzt als Sportchef beim FC St. Gallen – mit Erfolg. Nun kehrt er zurück zu seinem Herzensklub, um ihn vor dem sportlichen Absturz zu bewahren.

[–>GC-Präsidentin Stacy Johns über Sutter: „Er wird mit seinem überaus grossen Erfahrungsschatz im Schweizer Fussball ein wichtiger Grundbaustein für die Zukunft des Klubs sein. Nun aber heisst es zuerst: Voller Fokus auf den Klassenerhalt!“

Auch Sutter selbst weiß, was auf dem Spiel steht: „Trotz der grossen Herausforderungen freue ich mich riesig, wieder bei GC zu sein. Ich sehe ein grosses Potenzial und glaube an das langfristige Projekt. Dieser Klub hat mir viel gegeben und ich werde alles daransetzen, dass er wieder erfolgreich wird.“

Die Lage ist ernst: GC steht auf dem drittletzten Tabellenplatz, nur vier Spiele bleiben, um den Fall in die Challenge League zu verhindern.
