Es wird eines der spannendsten Themen im Sommer in Dortmund: Wechselt Torhüter Gregor Kobel (27) nach vier Jahren beim BVB zum FC Chelsea?
Das ist, anders als noch vor einem Jahr, längst nicht ausgeschlossen. Schon seit rund anderthalb Jahren stehen der englische Erstligist und der Schweizer in Kontakt. Während Kobel vor einem Jahr frühzeitig signalisierte, dass er die Borussia keinesfalls verlassen werde, ist die Situation nun eine andere.
[–>Für einen Wechsel müssen die Chelsea-Bosse zunächst jedoch zunächst ihre Hausaufgaben erfüllen. Beim Tabellen-Fünften der Premier League stehen momentan sieben Torhüter unter Vertrag. Vier gehören zum aktuellen Kader, drei sind verliehen. Für Kobel ist es kaum vorstellbar, Teil eines solch großen Torwart-Teams zu sein. Er möchte, ähnlich wie in Dortmund, mit einem festen, kleinen Gespann arbeiten. Das wissen auch die Chelsea-Chefs – und wollen deshalb vorher auf dieser Position personell ausdünnen.
Auch Manchester United hat Kobel nicht aus den Augen verloren. Chelseas Liga-Konkurrent, der auf Platz 15 liegend eine katastrophale Saison absolviert, muss jedoch eine ähnliche Situation lösen. Mit André Onana (29) hat United einen Stamm-Torhüter, der jedoch immer wieder mit Aussetzern auffällt und massiv in die Kritik geraten ist. Lyon-Profi Nemanja Matic (36), der von 2017 bis 2022 für Manchester spielte, nannte Onana zuletzt „einen der schlechtesten Torhüter in der Geschichte von United“.
[–>Da der Kameruner bei United ein Jahresgehalt bezieht, das bei mehr als 15 Millionen Euro liegen soll, kann sich der englische Traditionsklub Kobel nicht leisten, solange Onana (Vertrag bis 2028) noch unter Vertrag steht. Zuletzt gab es Gerüchte um Interesse aus Saudi-Arabien.
Kobel, der in Dortmund einen Vertrag bis 2028 hat, muss also Geduld aufbringen. Und die englischen Vereine ordentlich Geld aufbringen. Als Ablöse für den Schweizer sind 60 Millionen Euro im Gespräch.
