Cicinho avalia que, mesmo com o status de melhor zagueiro do mundo, Marquinhos não merece vaga cativa na seleção. Mencionando o histórico do capitão do PSG, o ex-jogador defende outros atletas sendo testados no atual ciclo de Copa do Mundo. Em contrapartida, entre os volantes, Casemiro é visto como a melhor opção para dar respaldo ao setor defensivo.
“O Marquinhos é o melhor zagueiro do mundo. Pode ser o melhor zagueiro do mundo. Mas, para a seleção, não. O que o Marquinhos ganhou na seleção brasileira? Dá oportunidade para novos zagueiros que estão vivendo um bom momento.”, disse Cicinho, em entrevista ao canal Boteco do Chula.
“Hoje, meu volante é o Casemiro. Quando veste a camisa da seleção, ele se transforma. Levam o André, que jogava no Fluminense, o que ele fez pela seleção?”, acrescentou.

Vão fazer uma convocação com quem está ali, preparador físico, dirigentes… a seleção brasileira, que todo mundo queria estar, os treinadores estão falando ‘não’. Onde já se viu isso? Pessimista, Cicinho não confia que o hexa será conquistado em 2026. Levando em conta o prazo curto de preparação atrelado ao substituto de Dorival Júnior, o comentarista descarta a seleção garantindo vaga na final da Copa do Mundo.
“Na Copa do Mundo, vamos ter que nos contentar em chegar, no máximo, nas quartas de final. Se chegar nas semifinais, tem que comemorar. Mas eu não acredito.”, opinou.
