Taylor Swift has officially broken her silence following a subpoena that drags her into the intensifying legal conflict between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.
Though she has no direct role in the dispute or the production of the film It Ends With Us, Swift‘s team has issued a firm statement condemning what they describe as an attempt to exploit her name for media attention.
Swift, whose song “My Tears Ricochet” was licensed for the film’s soundtrack, is now being asked to provide evidence by Baldoni‘s legal team. However, her representatives insist this move is baseless and purely for publicity.
“Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie,” a spokesperson said.
Tom Cruise has hailed his ex-wife Nicole Kidman as a “great actress”
“She was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made notes on the film, and she did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its release. During that time, she was traveling around the globe headlining the biggest tour in history.”
According to her team, the sole link between Swift and the film was the licensing of her 2020 song-one of 20 tracks used in the project. They argue that the subpoena is a calculated attempt to generate headlines rather than uncover relevant evidence.
Spotlight turns to Hollywood as legal drama escalates
The subpoena comes amid a deeply contentious legal battle between Blake Lively and It Ends With Us director and co-star Justin Baldoni.
Lively filed a lawsuit in December, alleging that Baldoni had sexually harassed her during the film’s production and created an uncomfortable environment on set. She also claimed that he tried to damage her reputation through a coordinated smear campaign.
In response, Baldoni filed a $400 million countersuit, accusing Lively of defamation and asserting that the allegations had caused significant professional and financial harm.
His legal team later published over 160 pages of personal messages and communications between the two in an attempt to strengthen their defense.
One message, reportedly sent by Lively to Baldoni after a disagreement about the script, referenced Swift and Lively‘s husband, Ryan Reynolds, calling them her “dragons” who protect her in difficult situations.
Baldoni‘s team used the message to imply that Lively was leveraging her celebrity connections to apply pressure behind the scenes-leading to the current push to subpoena Swift.
But Swift‘s representatives have firmly pushed back against this narrative, asserting that her name is being used purely for spectacle.
“This subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift‘s name to create tabloid clickbait,” her spokesperson said.
