Deutsche Darts-Überraschung in Hildesheim!
Beim 15. Turnier der Players-Championship-Serie ist Darts-Superstar Michael van Gerwen sensationell bereits in der 1. Runde an Deutschlands Darts-Talent Dominik Grüllich (23) gescheitert.
Beim packenden 6:5 überzeugte Grüllich mit einem Drei-Dart-Average von 93,94 Punkten gegen „MvG“.
[–>Doch seine Reise in Hildesheim ging sogar noch weiter: Auch in der nächsten Runde schlug der Weltranglisten-96. den Engländer George Killington (28) mit 6:4, ehe er im Sechzehntelfinale gegen Callan Rydz (26) – immerhin Nummer 40 der PDC Order of Merit – scheiterte. Doch selbst in der Niederlage glänzte Grüllich mit einem Average von über 100.
Es ist nicht der erste Fingerzeig des Deutschen. Erst im Januar erspielte sich der 23-Jährige seine Tour Card. Im April ließ er dann beim Players Championship 14 das nächste Ausrufezeichen folgen. Im niederländischen Rosmalen stürmte Grüllich sogar bis ins Finale, wo er Jonny Clayton (50) unterlag. Ein großer Erfolg.

Ganz anders die Stimmung beim Holländer van Gerwen. Seine Saison läuft einfach nicht, mit der Pleite stehen bereits sechs Erstrunden-Niederlagen bei Pro-Tour-Events in diesem Jahr zu Buche. Dazu fehlt der „Green Machine“ ein Tagessieg in der Premier League und auch beim World Masters sowie den UK Open musste sich „Mighty Mike“ früh verabschieden.
Pole gewinnt in Hildesheim, gleich zwei 9-Darter
Jubeln durfte in Hildesheim am Ende überraschend der Pole Krzysztof Ratajski (48). Mit 8:4 schlug die Nummer 33 der Welt im Finale Dave Chisnall (44). Der hatte zuvor in der 2. Runde mit einem 9-Darter für Ekstase gesorgt.
Doch Darts-Fans in Hildesheim durften dieses Kunststück sogar ein zweites Mal erleben. Auch der Engländer Luke Woodhouse (36) checkte die 501 Punkte mit dem perfekten Spiel und 9 Würfen.
Die bekannten deutschen Spieler Martin Schindler (28) und Ricardo Pietreczko (30) schafften es wie Grüllich in die Runde der letzten 32, allerdings war auch für sie vor dem Achtelfinale Schluss.
