O italiano Carlo Ancelotti foi anunciado pela CBF na manhã desta segunda-feira como novo treinador da seleção brasileira até o fim da Copa do Mundo de 2026. Ele vai receber em torno de R$ 4 milhões por mês. Além disso, o contrato também prevê um bônus de € 5 milhões (cerca de R$ 31,6 milhões na cotação atual) se o Brasil vencer Mundial do ano que vem. O acordo ainda estipula mordomias, como o fretamento de um jato para levá-lo a Europa algumas poucas vezes, assim como o pagamento do aluguel de uma mansão onde o técnico vai morar no Rio de Janeiro.
O vínculo leva Ancelotti a comandar a seleção por 14 meses, ou seja, até o fim do Mundial. A expectativa é que ele desembarque no país em 26 de maio, para anunciar a lista de convocados para a disputa dos próximos dois jogos das Eliminatórias, contra Equador e Paraguai, nos dias 5 e 10 de junho Consta também do combinado um amistoso entre Brasil e Real Madrid.
Ancelotti deixará o Real Madrid após o último jogo da equipe na La Liga, contra a Real Sociedad. O acordo com a Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (CBF) já foi assinado, após negociações conduzidas por Diego Fernandes em nome da entidade. O treinador ainda tinha um ano de contrato com o clube espanhol, mas a saída foi acertada em comum acordo.
Considerado um dos técnicos mais vitoriosos da história do futebol, Ancelotti chega com a missão de comandar o Brasil nas Eliminatórias da Copa do Mundo de 2026 e buscar o inédito hexacampeonato, que será disputado nos Estados Unidos, Canadá e México.
Ele substituirá Dorival Júnior, demitido em março após 14 meses à frente da Seleção. A estreia de Ancelotti no comando do Brasil será no dia 6 de junho, contra o Equador, pelas Eliminatórias.

Ancelotti está em sua segunda passagem pelo Real Madrid, clube ao qual retornou em 2021. No total, conquistou duas vezes a La Liga e venceu três edições da Liga dos Campeões como treinador do clube. Nesta temporada, o Real foi eliminado nas quartas de final da Champions pelo Arsenal, perdeu a final da Copa do Rei para o Barcelona na prorrogação e está sete pontos atrás da equipe de Hansi Flick no Campeonato Espanhol.
