It has been almost eight years since Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor faced each other at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, but the rivalry between them is still as active as ever, at least on social media. This weekend, the Irish fighter once again provoked Mayweather with a post on Instagram, in which he made it clear that his obsession with surpassing the American boxer remains intact.
The fight between the two, held in August 2017, was one of the most high-profile in recent history. Mayweather, with his technical and unbeatable style, won by technical knockout in the 10th round, to sign his 50th victory and close his professional career with a perfect record. Since then, he has limited himself to exhibition fights, facing opponents such as Tenshin Nasukawa, Logan Paul and Mikuru Asakura.McGregor, meanwhile, has not competed since suffering an ankle fracture in his trilogy against Dustin Poirier in July 2021. Even so, his name remains present thanks to his constant media activity and his desire to stay above Mayweather in the public conversation.
The tension between the two is not new. Mayweather has even criticized the Irishman’s growing fame, suggesting that his popularity has more to do with the color of his skin than with his talent in the octagon.

McGregor’s latest provocation to Mayweather
With Mayweather retired from boxing and McGregor out of the octagon for almost four years, the rivalry is fueled in a new ring: that of social networks.
The Notorious published an image generated by Artificial Intelligence, to promote a can of his new TIDL Sport product, the sports recovery and performance brand created by Conor McGregor.
In the image, McGregor appears with the can in his right hand above a crowd in which one of the people present was someone very similar to Floyd Mayweather, wearing a T-shirt that says ‘TMT’.
And if there is any doubt that the AI-created image was only of someone who looked like Mayweather, the abbreviation of his team ‘The Money Team’ is ‘TMT’, in an attack that the former boxer has not yet responded to.
