Im belgischen Handball gab es nun eine Rückkehr, die so wohl einmalig ist. Eine Spielerin, die vor 16 Jahren ihre Karriere beendet hatte, kehrte ins Tor ihres Erstliga-Klubs zurück. Und das mit 60 Jahren!

Claudia Fohn half bei ihrem Klub Union Beynoise, wo sie eigentlich Torwarttrainerin ist, aus, weil die etatmäßigen Torfrauen in der entscheidenden Partie um den Klassenerhalt gegen Uilenspiegel fehlten. Und jetzt wird es völlig verrückt: Mit einer Quote von 41 Prozent gehaltener Bälle sorgte sie mit für den deutlichen Heimerfolg und den Klassenerhalt.

Fohn erzählte im belgischen Rundfunk: „Unsere erste Torhüterin hatte sich im März sehr schwer verletzt, die zweite Torhüterin war krankheitsbedingt nicht da und dann standen wir vor dem großen Problem, das wir nur noch eine 19-jährige junge Torhüterin hatten. Und da blieb mir nichts anderes übrig, als unseren Vorstand zu fragen, ob wir noch eine Spielerlizenz besorgen sollen.“ Sie sollte. Und? „Es war anstrengend, hat aber Erfolg gebracht.“
Sie erzählt weiter: „Mein größtes Problem war, dass ich auf keinen Fall reflexmäßig in irgendeiner Form in den Spagat springen oder fallen darf. Ich glaube, das wäre für meine Adduktoren dann das Aus gewesen. Altersbedingt denke ich, die wären dann komplett gerissen. Das hat dann ganz gut geklappt.“
[–>Mach sie jetzt gar weiter? Claudia Fohn: „Es hat mir Spaß gemacht. Ich habe mit Freude da hinten drin gestanden. Aber der Körper würde das intensiver als jetzt nicht mehr mitmachen. Da muss man ehrlich sein. Ich habe auch Folgeschäden aus meiner Karriere, habe ja auch 30 Jahre lang gespielt. Meine Zeit ist eigentlich vorbei.“
