As the Dallas Cowboys prepare for a new chapter under head coach Brian Schottenheimer, the message coming out of the building is unmistakably clear: this team is going to get back to physical football. That identity is reflected across their projected 2025 offensive starters – a group built to bully in the trenches, wear down defenses, and lean heavily on play-action.
The foundation begins, unsurprisingly, with quarterback Dak Prescott, who returns as the team’s offensive leader after missing time in 2024 due to injury.

With Schottenheimer calling plays, expect Prescott to operate in a system tailored to support him with a strong run game, two tight end sets, and vertical passing concepts.

At running back, Javonte Williams is poised to take over as RB1. The presence of promising rookie Jaydon Blue creates competition, but Williams‘ experience and physical style make him the favorite to start.
Schottenheimer‘s commitment to “12 personnel” (one running back, two tight ends) shapes the entire identity of this offense. That’s where Jake Ferguson and Brevyn Spann-Ford enter the equation.
Ferguson is already proven as a capable pass-catcher and blocker, but Spann-Ford, a 6-foot-7, 270-pound undrafted free agent with a $250,000 signing bonus, is viewed as an extension of the offensive line.
This scheme prioritizes efficiency and physical matchups, and with only two receivers on the field in most sets, the Cowboys are turning to CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. Lamb, an All-Pro, needs no introduction. Pickens, acquired from Pittsburgh, brings a new dynamic to the position group. Together, they form a complementary duo for a simplified but explosive passing game.
Up front, the offensive line will be crucial. Tyler Guyton retains his role at left tackle despite a rough rookie year, which the staff attributes to inexperience and a dysfunctional coaching environment. With better development now in place, the Cowboys remain confident in his first-round talent.
At left guard, Tyler Smith returns as the team’s anchor and soon-to-be highest-paid interior lineman. He’s already elite and will be a key to the team’s running success.
The center position will be handled by rookie Cooper Beebe, a high-effort mauler who fits the culture Schottenheimer wants to cultivate. Next to him, Tyler Booker, whose attitude and power are expected to set the tone for the offense.
Finally, Terence Steele holds down the right tackle spot. While 2024 wasn’t his best year, Steele remains a strong fit in a system that favors movement and physicality. In 12 personnel, his ability to create running lanes and provide stability in play-action will be essential.
