A menos de um ano da Copa do Mundo, a entidade que comanda o futebol brasileiro está acéfala. Na quinta-feira, a Justiça afastou o presidente da CBF, Ednaldo Rodrigues. Ele é suspeito de arquitetar uma fraude para se segurar no cargo.
A decisão do desembargador Gabriel Zéfiro não foi propriamente uma surpresa. Dos últimos seis chefões da CBF, cinco foram afastados por envolvimento em escândalos. A lista é encabeçada pelo notório Ricardo Teixeira. Dono da bola por 23 anos, ele foi banido do futebol pela Fifa, acusado de embolsar propina em contratos milionários.
Seu sucessor, o malufista José Maria Marin, foi preso no chamado Fifagate. Passou cinco anos detido no exterior e voltou para casa graças à pandemia. O presidente seguinte, Marco Polo Del Nero, foi banido pelas mesmas práticas corruptas. Para escapar das algemas, adotou a tática de esconder o passaporte e não sair mais do Brasil.
Na sequência, Rogério Caboclo foi apeado da presidência sob denúncias de assédio moral e sexual. Seu substituto, Ednaldo Rodrigues, é bicampeão. Já havia sido afastado pela Justiça, mas voltou ao cargo nas asas de uma liminar do ministro Gilmar Mendes.
Com receita líquida superior a R$ 1 bilhão por ano, a CBF é cobiçada por quem busca usar a paixão nacional para fazer negócios. Em abril, reportagem da revista Piauí dissecou a gestão de Ednaldo. O texto descreveu um festival de regalias, pagamentos suspeitos e favorecimentos pessoais.
O cartola se serviu da confederação como se estivesse numa boca livre. Sem pudor de se lambuzar, filou passagens aéreas para a mulher, a filha, o neto, o genro, a sogra, os cunhados, o sobrinho e o cabeleireiro. Os chefes das federações estaduais, que deveriam fiscalizá-lo, foram adoçados com salários de R$ 215 mil e diárias em hotéis cinco estrelas.
Além de alimentar os parlamentares da bancada da bola, Ednaldo abriu uma casa de lobby em Brasília e investiu na proximidade com os tribunais superiores. Fechou contrato com o IDP, faculdade fundada por Gilmar, para oferecer cursos de futebol. A entidade diz formar técnicos de “alto rendimento” e “nível internacional”. Curiosamente, acaba de recorrer a um italiano para treinar a seleção.
Cinco meses depois de a CBF assinar com o IDP, o supremo ministro autografou a liminar que reconduziu o cartola. Na quinta-feira, Gilmar disse ao UOL que não se sentiu impedido de julgar o recurso de Ednaldo. “Não há conflito de interesse em relação a esta questão”, sentenciou.
Há menos de 60 dias, o dirigente foi reeleito por unanimidade, com os votos das 27 federações e dos 40 clubes das séries A e B. Desde então, a CBF distraiu a torcida com a contratação do técnico do Real Madrid e os rumores de que lançaria uma exótica camisa vermelha. A amarelinha, que já foi símbolo nacional, continua sequestrada por políticos de extrema direita.
O desempenho nos gramados também não é mais o mesmo. Há 23 anos sem ganhar uma Copa, a seleção dá vexames em série desde o 7 a 1 para a Alemanha. Na última partida oficial, pelas Eliminatórias, levou de 4 a 1 da Argentina. O Brasil ocupa o quarto lugar na tabela, empatado com a briosa esquadra do Paraguai.
