Besonders bitte jetzt: Nach den zwei Niederlagen muss Deutschland in der Gruppe B ums Weiterkommen zittern. Sollte es gegen Weltmeister Tschechien heute nicht mit dem Sieg klappen, gibt es am Dienstag dann das Endspiel gegen die Dänen.
Sportchef Christian Künast (54) meint: „Unsere Erwartungshaltung ist in den letzten Jahren höher geworden. Das haben wir uns auch verdient. Ich habe aber nie von einer Medaille gesprochen. Viertelfinale ist das Verbandsziel.“ Ist dieses Ziel nun in Gefahr?
Gegen die USA musste die Mannschaft schnell einem Rückstand hinterherlaufen. Trainer Harold Kreis (66) danach: „Im ersten Drittel haben wir nicht die Laufbereitschaft, die körperliche Intensität aufs Eis gebracht. Die Leistung aus dem ersten Drittel muss uns eine Lektion sein.“
Und: „Wir haben eine sehr gute Erfahrung gemacht. Wenn Jeder einfach nur seinen Job macht, dann sind wir eine sehr gute Mannschaft.“
