Dabei fing alles mal so gut an: 2019, in seinem ersten Jahr bei Rasta Vechta, gewann er mit den Niedersachsen die Viertelfinal-Serie gegen Bamberg relativ souverän mit 3:1. Danach gab’s im Halbfinale gegen die Bayern nichts zu holen – 0:3.

[–>Calles wechselte zur Saison 2022/23 nach Oldenburg. Neues Team, gleiches Ergebnis. Als starker Vierter ging es mit großen Hoffnungen im Viertelfinale gegen Ludwigsburg. Doch das 0:3 waren die Niederlagen zehn, elf und zwölf in Serie.
In der folgenden Saison 2023/24 verpasste Oldenburg die Play-offs, scheiterte in den Play-ins ausgerechnet an Calles Ex-Team Hamburg.

Nach knapp drei Monaten in der Saison 2024/25 musste Calles in Oldenburg gehen, heuerte Anfang 2025 bei Alba an. Und kassierte jetzt mit dem 83:94 in Ulm seine 13. Play-off-Pleite in Folge.
