Der SC Paderborn hat einen Nachfolger für Trainer Lukas Kwasniok (43) gefunden. Vom Karlsruher SC kommt Ralf Kettemann. Dort hatte der Coach bisher den Nachwuchs der U19 trainiert.

Paderborn holt Kettemann vom KSC

Zwar hatte Kettemann erst im Januar seinen Vertrag beim KSC verlängert, doch dank einer Ausstiegsklausel kann er den Klub jetzt verlassen.

Die finale Unterschrift unter dem Vertrag in Paderborn ist noch nicht erfolgt, soll aber bald vollzogen werden. Kettemann wird dann Ende Juni als neuer Chef-Trainer der Ost-Westfalen vorgestellt, wenn der Zweitligist sein Training nach der Sommerpause wieder aufnehmen wird.

Für Kettemann wird es die erste Station als Trainer einer Profimannschaft sein. Vor seiner Tätigkeit beim KSC war er nur Co-Trainer bei der zweiten Mannschaft von Bundesliga-Verein 1899 Hoffenheim.

Kettemann hat sich nach SPORT BILD-Informationen im Rennen um den Trainer-Job bei Paderborn gegen zwei andere Kandidaten durchsetzen können. Ebenfalls beim SCP auf der Liste waren Alexander Ende (45, hört bei Verl auf) und Ex-Ulm-Trainer Thomas Wörle (43, wurde nach dem Abstieg in die 3. Liga entlassen).

Bei Paderborn tritt er in große Fußstapfen. Kwasniok hatte die Mannschaft in den vergangenen vier Jahren Stück für Stück verbessert und zu einem Spitzenteam der 2. Liga geformt. Nur der Aufstieg in die Bundesliga verpasste er auch in diesem Jahr. Schon Wochen vor Saisonende stand fest: Er wird Paderborn freiwillig vorzeitig verlassen.

Aber: Kwasniok ist begehrt. Der 43-Jährige gilt als Wunschkandidat beim Traditionsklub Schalke 04. Dort soll er ebenfalls den ersehnten Wiederaufstieg in die Bundesliga schaffen. Das Problem: Weil er bei Paderborn noch Vertrag bis 2026 hat, müsste der Revierklub eine Ablöse an Paderborn zahlen.

Auch beim HSV war Kwasniok zuletzt zweimal im Gespräch: vor der abgelaufenen Saison und später als Steffen Baumgart im November entlassen worden war.
