Die Zukunft von Klub-Ikone Luka Modric war großes Gesprächsthema im Verein. Er selbst hatte mitgeteilt, gerne weitermachen zu wollen. Doch in den vergangenen Wochen bestimmte die Wahl eines neuen Trainers die Madrid-Meetings.
Mit Noch-Leverkusen-Coach Xabi Alonso fiel die Wahl auf einen ehemaligen Starspieler des Vereins. Der muss jetzt entscheiden, wie er den Kader für eine erfolgreichere neue Saison umbauen will.

Modric sitzt seit Jahren nur noch auf der Bank, unterschreibt immer wieder Einjahresverträge. Doch dieses Mal? Sein aktueller Vertrag läuft am Saisonende aus. Gerüchte über eine mögliche Freigabe im Sommer machten die Runde.
Wie die spanische „Marca“ jetzt aber berichtet, drängt Alonso den Verein dazu, Modric einen neuen Vertrag für die nächste Saison anzubieten!
Laut des Berichts will der Spanier den erfahrenen Kroaten unbedingt halten. Modrics Führungsqualitäten und Erfahrung seien für Alonso in der Übergangsphase von unschätzbarem Wert, heißt es.
[–>Carlo Ancelotti (65) hatte nach dem 2:0-Sieg gegen Sevilla am Sonntag betont, dass Gespräche über Modrics Zukunft bald geführt würden. „Jeder weiß, wie sehr die Real-Fans ihn lieben“, sagte er. „Sie werden die beste Entscheidung für ihn, den Klub und die Zukunft treffen.“
Und: Der 39-Jährige macht es dem Klub leicht. Spanische Medien berichten, dass Modric bereit sei, erneut Gehaltseinbußen hinzunehmen und weiter Reservist zu bleiben.
