Youssoufa Moukoko (20) muss den nächsten Tiefpunkt in seiner noch jungen Karriere verkraften. Der einstige Wunderstürmer wurde nicht für die U21-EM (11. bis 28. Juni in der Slowakei) nominiert.
DFB-Trainer Antonio Di Salvo (45) hat jetzt über die Gründe der Entscheidung gesprochen – und dabei kein Blatt vor den Mund genommen.
[–>Der U21-Coach auf einer Pressekonferenz am Mittwoch: „Ihm war nach dem letzten Gespräch, das wir hatten, bewusst, dass, wenn er nicht zum Spielen kommt, er sich das auch nicht verdient hat und auch nicht damit rechnen konnte.“
Di Salvo weiter: „Wir sind alle sehr traurig über die Entwicklung in Nizza.“ Und: „Wir haben uns das alle erhofft, dass er mit Schwung zur Europameisterschaft kommen kann.“

Hintergrund: Bei Borussia Dortmund (Vertrag bis 2026) spielte Moukoko keine Rolle mehr und wurde vor einem Jahr an OGC Nizza ausgeliehen. Doch auch in Frankreich fand der Linksfuß nicht rein: nur elf Einsätze, zwei Tore. In den letzten 13 (!) Liga-Spielen stand er überhaupt nicht mehr auf dem Platz. Sein letzter Mini-Einsatz war Anfang Februar, eine Minute gegen Toulouse (1:1). Das ist jetzt über 100 Tage her.
Bitter für den Stürmer: Moukoko hat großen Anteil daran, dass sich die DFB-Auswahl überhaupt für das Turnier qualifiziert hart. Mit zwölf Treffern in zehn Einsätzen ist er bester DFB-Torjäger in der Qualifikation gewesen. Jetzt muss er die EM vom Sofa aus verfolgen.

Über sein 26-köpfiges Aufgebot sagt Di Salvo glücklich: „Die Vorfreude ist riesig, wir haben eine starke Mannschaft.“ Neben Nick Woltemade (23/VfB Stuttgart) steht auch Paul Wanner (19/FC Bayern, ausgeliehen an Heidenheim) im Kader. Das Mega-Talent wird also nicht mit den Bayern zur Klub-WM nach Amerika reisen, sondern greift mit unseren DFB-Jungs in der Slowakei nach der EM-Trophäe.
