Longtime Colts owner Jim Irsaypassed away in his sleep, leaving a profound mark on the franchise and its people. He started out working with his father, Robert, who moved the team to Indianapolis in 1984. Jim took over in 1997, becoming the youngest owner in NFL history.
Irsay‘s influence transcended sports, as evidenced by Pat McAfee’s gratitude.McAfee credits much of his career to Irsay and dedicated some very emotional words to him on his ESPN show.

Irsay and McAfee had a truly remarkable story. It began when McAfee was starting out in the NFL, and Jim selected him 222nd overall in the 2009 draft. During his eight seasons with the Colts, Irsay helped launch McAfee‘s career and supported his personal growth.
After hearing the news of Irsay‘s death, McAfee shared some emotional words about him, emphasizing that he was more than a boss to him and that he was an invaluable presence in his life. Pat said that he will be eternally grateful to Irsay.

Pat broke down in tears when talking about Jim Irsay
“Last night, I cried a little when they announced the passing of a friend. What Jim Irsay, owner of the Indianapolis Colts, has done for me, for this program, for the show, and for the city will be difficult to analyze and comment on,” he said on his show.
McAfee also commented that Jim must have been one of the most inspiring people and that he shaped McAfee into the great star he is today.
“When I decided to retire, we had a two-and-a-half-hour conversation in his office. He tried to stop me for a few minutes and even offered to renegotiate my contract. Realizing that I had already made up my mind, the conversation turned into an attempt to convince me about the best way to run a business and maintain authenticity.”
Jim gave Pat his heart and trust, always opening the doors of the Colts to him. This gives Pat enormous value not only as an NFL analyst but also as a great sports figure, like Peyton Manning. , he has also reacted to the news.
His legacy is impeccable, and everyone in the NFL has good things to say about Jim Irsay.
