It’s not all NFL in Patrick Mahomes‘ life. Another of the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback’s passions is basketball.
In fact, during his time in high school, Pat practiced this sport and on several occasions has been captured by the cameras and the eye of his fans sitting in the audience of some games.

Although this time he was not physically present, Mahomes made it known that he closely followed the first game of the Eastern Conference Finals between the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers.
The epic comeback that the Pacers pulled off in the final minutes of the fourth quarter has not been seen in 27 years by an NBA team. Indiana managed to turn around a 14-point deficit with less than three minutes left, extending the game into overtime and beating the Knicks 138-135.

Tyrese Haliburton shined at Madison Square Garden and fueled the victory with 31 points and 11 assists, and the Chiefs’ quarterback did not miss a beat.
In his official X account, Patrick Mahomes dedicated a message to the player with only two words: “Bro stop….” and added multiple cry-laughing emojis. However, hours later, he decided to delete the post.
Haliburton’s controversial gesture
While his agonizing double-double ignited the public, what really generated repercussions was his controversial celebration: he imitated Reggie Miller’s iconic “choke sign”.
In 1994, the Indiana legend scored – in the last quarter alone – 25 points to come from behind in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals. During the game, Miller celebrated by making this gesture dedicated to Knicks fan Spike Lee in front of the entire Madison Square Garden.
Of course, this did not generate many happy faces, but it also left one of the most intense rivalries in the NBA.
In response to Tyrese Haliburton’s celebration, coach Rick Carlisle did not sugarcoat the situation and described his attitude as “unnecessary”, stating that this gesture does not represent the values he seeks to instill in his team.
Comebacks, a regular occurrence in Mahomes’ life
Despite his long career, Patrick’s latest comebacks is something that was etched in the retina and in the heart of every Chiefs fan.
In 2022, he led the team to win Super Bowl LVII after it looked like Eagles were taking it to each by a 10-point spread. They won 38-35.
The following season, the Chiefs were also down by 10 points, took the game into overtime and won 25-22.
Although he was unable to pull off another epic comeback during the Eagkes’ 40-22 win in February, Mahomes and the team are hoping to bring out their talents and fight for another ring. Will they make it?
