Deutsches Final-Turnier mit französischer Beteiligung.

Handball-Fest in Hamburg! Am Wochenende werden in der Barclays Arena die EHF Finals ausgetragen, die Endrunde der European League. Auch Handball-Bundesligist und Titelverteidiger SG Flensburg-Handewitt hat sich qualifiziert.

Kapitän Johannes Golla (27) trifft mit der SG im ersten Halbfinale auf Liga-Konkurrent MT Melsungen (15 Uhr, Dyn und DAZN), anschließend kämpft der THW Kiel gegen Montpellier HB (18 Uhr, Dyn und DAZN) um den Einzug ins Finale am Sonntag (18 Uhr).

Für Johannes Golla ist es neben dem Halbfinale auch das Duell mit seinem künftigen Arbeitgeber (Vertrag ab Sommer 2026).

SPORT BILD: Herr Golla, Sie wollten sich mit der SG am vergangenen Wochenende eigentlich Selbstvertrauen für Hamburg holen. Statt eines Erfolges gab es die Heim-Niederlage gegen die Löwen.

Johannes Golla: „Ja, das war ziemlich ärgerlich, weil wir uns das schon oft vorgenommen haben, dass so etwas nicht erneut passieren soll. Deswegen ist es erst mal an sich ärgerlich. Es ist ärgerlich, dass wir ein Heimspiel verlieren, was wir niemals wollen. Die Art und Weise ist ärgerlich. Und vor dem Wochenende, welches bevorsteht, wäre es sicher schöner gewesen, wenn wir nicht so viel Negatives hätten analysieren müssen.“

Können Sie das Erlebte schnell abhaken, weil jetzt ein anderer Wettbewerb auf Sie wartet?

„Das macht es sicher leichter, dass wir wissen, dass wir jetzt mit zwei Siegen etwas Großes schaffen können. Dennoch ist es so, wenn man sich die Leistungen anschaut, und die Probleme, die wir haben – es geht nicht von allein.“

[–>Spielt es bei Ihnen im Hinterkopf eine Rolle, dass sich Flensburg möglicherweise nicht für einen europäischen in der kommenden Saison nicht für Europa hat qualifizieren können?

„Wenn wir in der Bundesliga nicht am Ende noch eine Leistungsstabilisation hinbekommen, damit wir nicht noch mehr Punkte liegen lassen, die wir eigentlich nicht liegen lassen dürfen, dann kann es auch noch weiter nach unten gehen. Aber das ist nicht der Plan. Deswegen spielt es aktuell keine große Rolle in meinem Kopf, dass wir möglicherweise an den Zielen vorbeischrammen.“

Sie sind Titelverteidiger. Bedeutet das etwas fürs Wochenende?

„Ja, wir haben positive Erinnerungen an Hamburg. Deswegen hat uns das letzte Jahr gutgetan. Wir haben nach zwei großen Rückschlägen im DHB-Pokalfinal 4 endlich mal ein Final Four für uns entscheiden können. Deswegen ist das Event mit einem positiven Gefühl verbunden. Wir wissen aber auch, dass es ein ganz neues Turnier ist. Ich glaube, keine Mannschaft kann da hinfahren und sagen, sie sei Favorit und plane den Titel fest ein. Wenn draufschaut, dann könnten es von der Kaderzusammensetzung auch Mannschaften sein, die einen Wettbewerb höher um den Titel spielen. Deshalb ist das schon ein würdiges Final Four für solch einen Wettbewerb.“

Sie spielen im Halbfinale gegen Melsungen. Die MT steht in der Tabelle über Ihnen, außerdem ist es Ihr kommender Verein. Ein besonderes Spiel für Sie?

„Offen gesagt ist das jetzt nichts Besonderes, was das Drumherum angeht, weil da in der Vergangenheit schon so viel drüber gesprochen wurde und weil es jetzt auch nicht das erste Aufeinandertreffen in dieser Saison ist. Damals, Ende des Jahres, war sicherlich etwas mehr Aufregung um das Spiel. Weil das im Zeitraum der Verkündung war, dass ich Flensburg verlasse und nach Melsungen gehe. Das hat sich jetzt alles gelegt. Aber es ist natürlich schon was Besonderes, weil es immer Spiele auf Augenhöhe waren in den vergangenen Jahren. Melsungen ist eine sehr, sehr taktisch disziplinierte und gut eingestellte Mannschaft. Und deswegen ist es schon ein Hammerbrocken, der da auf uns wartet.“

Ihr Vertrag in Melsungen beginnt ab Juli 2026. Ist ein vorzeitiger Wechsel von Ihnen in diesem Jahr vom Tisch?

„Ja.“

Sie sagten, keine Mannschaft könne nach Hamburg fahren und sagen, sie hole den Titel. Gibt es für Sie dennoch einen Favoriten?

„Offen gesagt, nicht. Ich glaube, man kann bei jeder Mannschaft Dinge finden, die sie positiv beeinflussen können. Bei uns ist es die gute Erfahrung aus dem letzten Jahr. Bei Kiel ist es die gute Erfahrung aus dem DHB-Pokalfinale vor ein paar Monaten. Melsungen ist vielleicht gerade mit die stabilste Mannschaft, die taktisch gut ist und für jeden Gegner etwas bereithält. Und Montpellier hat vergangenes Wochenende in Frankreich den Pokal gewonnen und ist deswegen auch gut drauf.“

Die Saison ist auf der Zielgeraden. Wie geht es Ihrem Körper?

„Eigentlich relativ gut für Mitte, Ende Mai. Ich muss sagen, dass ich das relativ gut hinbekommen habe, jetzt auf einem guten Niveau zu sein. Es war diese Saison schon mal schwerer. Es ist ein anderer Rhythmus nach Olympia, das muss ich schon sagen. Aber jetzt gerade fühlt es sich so an, als ob ich die letzten Spiele auch noch mit voller Energie rumbekomme und dann aber auch urlaubsreif bin.“
