Der VfB gewinnt den DFB-Pokal, stürmt Drittligist Bielefeld mit 4:2 vom Platz. Dabei hilft der Mannschaft von Sebastian Hoeneß ein Tor-Sprint in der ersten Halbzeit.
So rauscht sich der VfB zum Pokalsieg – während sich Underdog Bielefeld den Party-Pott verdient.

Am Final-Tag war Berlin schwarz-weiß-blau, die Berliner Tourismusgesellschaft „VisitBerlin“ geht von 100 000 Arminia-Fans in der Hauptstadt aus, von Gegner Stuttgart wurden 25 000 Fans erwartet.
Arminia-Trainer Kniat sagte: „Das Finale gegen Stuttgart ist das größte Spiel der Vereinsgeschichte.“
Und die frenetischen Fans feiern eine XXL-Party in der Hauptstadt!
Weit über 100 000 Karten hätte Arminia verkaufen können. Alle Trikots sind vergriffen, Bielefeld setzte 15 000 Jerseys ab – so viele wie nie zuvor. In der Saison 2024/25 wird der Klub über drei Millionen Euro allein durchs Merchandising einnehmen. Rekord.
Doch eine Krönung bleibt aus.
Dabei legt zunächst Bielefeld richtig gut los, verpasst die frühe Führung nur denkbar knapp.
Ein guter Arminia-Angriff endet bei Sarenren Bazee, der am Fünfer komplett frei zum Abschluss kommt – und nur die Latte trifft (12.).

15. Minute: Bielefeld bekommt den Ball nur unzureichend geklärt, Woltemade wird von Stiller angespielt, setzt sich stark gegen Arminias Abwehr-Mann Russo durch und bleibt anschließend vorm Tor eiskalt. 1:0 für den VfB, der Underdog in Schock-Starre.
Bitter, Bielefeld – und es kommt noch viel, viel schlimmer. Weil die Arminia den VfB zum Tore Schießen einlädt …

22. Minute: Nach eigener Ecke haut Stiller den Ball weg, Bielefelds Hintermannschaft ist sich uneinig und plötzlich ist Undav nach Millot-Pass völlig frei durch. Der DFB-Stürmer legt kurz vorm Tor noch einmal quer, sodass Millot nur noch einschieben muss.
Die beste Abwehr der abgelaufenen Drittliga-Saison schenkt sich die Tore selbst ein.
28. Minute: Großer, von Beruf Innenverteidiger, treibt den Ball ins Mittelfeld – und verliert die Kugel an Stiller. Der setzt mit einem Pass Undav ein, der es dieses Mal selber macht und zum 3:0 aus VfB-Sicht trifft.
13 Minuten, die den VfB zum ersten Pöttle-Triumph seit 1997 (damals unter Jogi Löw) sprinten lässt.
Damit ist auch klar: Der VfB spielt nächstes Jahr europäisch, ist als Pokal-Sieger automatisch in der Gruppenphase der Europa League gesetzt.
Hätte Bielefeld das Final-Wunder vollbracht, wäre der Aufsteiger der erste unterklassige Klub in Europa seit Aachen (2004/05) gewesen. Sogar Uefa-Offizielle inspizierten bereits das Stadion.
Doch am Ende reichts nicht.
Weil Stuttgart auch nach der Pause weitermacht: Wieder Millot (66.) – erneut nach einem Patzer der Arminia – macht die Pokal-Party des VfB perfekt.
Trotzdem: Auch bis zur letzten Minute feuern die Arminia-Anhänger ihre Mannschaft lautstark an. Und feiern kurz vor Schluss durch Kania (82.) und Vagnoman per Eigentor (85.) sogar noch den doppelten Ehren-Treffer.
