The Israeli army issued a new order for the forced evacuation of the entire south of Gaza before carrying out an “unprecedented attack” after a deadly day from dawn in which more than 60 Gazans have already died, many of them children.
“The army is going to launch an unprecedented attack to defeat the terrorist organizations,” military spokesman Avichay Adraee said on X, adding a map that covered in red the entire governorate of Khan Younis and Rafah.

“Evacuate immediately to the west, to the Al Mawasi area,” the order says, adding that it does not affect the southern hospitals of Al Amal and Nasser.

New evacuation in a week
On March 31, the army ordered the population to leave the whole of Rafah and parts of Khan Yunis, and on May 19 it included the rest of Khan Yunis.
This corresponds to the army’s aspirations to control 75% of the enclave in the next two months, according to a security source, concentrating the more than 2 million Gazans in Gaza City (north), the refugee camps in the center of the enclave and Al Mawasi.
At least 31 Gazans were killed, including six siblings and the mother of a six-year-old girl, in the Israeli bombing of a school in Gaza City, which caused a fire at the center.
Israel rejects latest ceasefire proposal
This Monday, Israel rejected a final US proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza, insisting that it still supports the scheme proposed by Steve Witkoff, the White House’s Middle East envoy.
The proposal contemplated a two-month truce in exchange for ten live hostages and the negotiation of the end of the offensive.
An Israeli official confirmed to EFE on condition of anonymity that the refusal is due to the fact that “Hamas does not have a real desire to move forward with an agreement” and that Israel “is sticking to the Witkoff framework”.
However, this new proposal presented by the Palestinian-American mediator Bishara Bahbah did have the collaboration and approval of Witkoff, according to a Palestinian source.
According to this source, the proposal called for the release of 10 live Israeli hostages in two batches, while Hamas demanded a 70-day ceasefire in exchange for the release of 10 captives, five alive and five dead.
