Demnach haben Messi-Verein Inter Miami aus der US-Liga MLS und Al-Nassr, der Verein von Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, aus der Saudi Pro League die Nase vorn im Werben um den Weltfußballer von 2018.
Modric wolle Medienberichten zufolge unbedingt im kommenden Jahr noch einmal mit seinem Heimatland an der Weltmeisterschaft teilnehmen. Diese findet im kommenden Sommer in den USA, Kanada und Mexiko statt (11. Juni bis 19. Juli).

Demnach plane Alonso nicht mehr mit Modric, wollte ihm keine Garantie auf Einsätze geben. Dass er keinen neuen Einjahresvertrag angeboten bekommen hat, soll selbst Modric sehr überrascht haben.
