After a great season, Birmingham City plans to strengthen its squad in the summer transfer window to secure promotion to the Premier League with Tom Brady at the helm.
Birmingham City left the Premier League 14 years ago, but with Brady and a group of American investors at the helm, the club is confident it will return to the top flight within the next 12 months.
In mid-2023, Knighthead took control of the club, and Brady, an iconic NFL figure, joined the ownership group. He was then appointed head of the advisory board.
Unsatisfied with relegation, Birmingham shook up the market by signing Jay Stansfield for $15 million and securing Christoph Klarer and Willum Thor Willumsson for around $3.5 million each. These are the highest investments ever seen in League One.
“Not only will we achieve promotion, but we will also increase revenue to be competitive in the Premier League,” co-owner Tom Wagner told The i Paper.
According to the Daily Mail,Birmingham is looking forward to its return to the Championship. Brady and his fellow owners are wasting no time, planning a major investment to reach the Premier League as soon as possible.
