Red Sox ace Garrett Crochet has no regrets over ‘best pitch’ vs. Aaron Judge

<!--> The Boston Red Sox have had a chance in games whenever Garrett Crochet has been on the mound this season.Except for one pitch in Friday's 2-1, extra-inning win over the New York Yankees, he again proved to be the antidote to slugger Aaron Judge.Crochet held New York scoreless over a career-high 8 1/3 innings, striking out the Yankees slugger three times while holding the rest of New York's lineup to four hits with seven total Ks.But with Boston clinging to a 1-0 lead and Crochet back on the hill to try to finish the game in the ninth, his fourth time facing Judge proved costly. Crochet took him to a full count, but let his 99 mph fastball dip down in the strike zone — Judge's sweet spot. He jumped on it, blasting it 443 feet over the Green […]

As Club World Cup begins, MLS player bonus dispute remains as protests, allegations of retaliation cause chaos

MLS and the MLS Players Association are still at odds as it pertains to player bonuses regarding the Club World Cup, hours before Inter Miami play Al Ahly in the opening match of the newly expanded competition on Saturday. The source of the dispute is a section in the current collective bargaining agreement, which only allows players to collect 50% of prize money from outside tournaments and caps their earnings at $1 million. FIFA's new competition, which was expanded from eight teams to 32, comes with an overall prize pot of $1 billion and has raised questions about what portion of those earnings will go to the players themselves, especially in MLS. The league has three teams participating in the competition – Inter Miami, the Seattle Sounders and LAFC – though the league and the Players Association are unlikely to reach […]

Rockets sign Steven Adams to 3-year, $39M extension as veteran center will not hit free agency, per report

Getty Images Steven Adams will be returning to the Houston Rockets for next season and beyond, as the veteran center agreed to a new three-year, $39 million contract extension Saturday that will keep him in Houston and take him off the free agent market, according to ESPN.The Rockets took another step forward in the 2024-25 season, earning the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference after going 52-30 in the regular season. WNBA trade grades: Li Yueru dealt to Wings after publicly asking out from Storm; Paige Bueckers gets new big

The Dallas Wings have acquired third-year center Li Yueru from the Seattle Storm in exchange for a 2026 second-round pick (includes rights to swap with the Connecticut Sun) and a 2027 third-round pick (includes rights to swap with Indiana Fever), the teams announced Saturday.Earlier this month, Yueru, who was traded from the Los Angeles Sparks to the Storm during the offseason as part of the Jewell Loyd-Kelsey Plum blockbuster, made the rare move to publicly request a trade because she was unhappy with her playing time in Seattle. ESPN also reported the Chinese federation wanted Yueru, who led the Chinese national team with 17.7 points and 11 rebounds per game at the Paris Olympics last summer, to play more if she was to remain in the WNBA. "I don't feel I have enough time on the court," Yueru said last week.
