Sydney Sweeney has officially confirmed the end of her long-term relationship with Jonathan Davino, revealing that she is currently single and relishing her independence.
In an interview with The Times, the actress responded with a firm “No” when asked about wedding plans and confirmed she’s no longer engaged.
“Yes,” Sweeney replied when asked directly if she’s single, before adding, “I’m learning a lot about myself, spending more time with my friends. And I’m loving it.”
The two had been together since 2018 and were engaged in early 2022. However, the relationship quietly came to an end, with Sweeney now choosing to focus on her personal growth and increasingly busy professional life.

Career momentum takes priority over settling down
According to a source close to the actress, the split wasn’t abrupt, but followed a period of uncertainty. Speaking to PEOPLE, the insider said, “They had been rocky for a long time.
Sydney is exactly where she wants to be. Most people would feel overwhelmed by her working schedule this year, but not Syd. She’s all about working right now and very excited about all her projects.”
The source also pointed out that while the love was real, the commitment had started to feel like a burden. “What did make her overwhelmed, though, was her relationship and her wedding. She didn’t feel right about it,” they explained.
Despite their split, Sweeney and Davino have reportedly remained on cordial terms and still spend time together occasionally. “This wasn’t just a relationship. This was two people living together and planning a future. They still have things to figure out,” the source added.
Professionally, Sweeney has been on a meteoric rise. She has major projects lined up including her return in the next season of Euphoria, a lead role in the thriller The Housemaid, and biopic portrayals of boxer Christy Martin and screen icon Kim Novak.
Back in 2023, Sweeney told Glamour UK that she prefers to keep her relationships private. “Everyone is always so curious about who I’m with and what that’s like, but I think it’s important to have something for me,” she said.
In an earlier 2022 Cosmopolitan interview, she discussed her approach to dating, saying, “I don’t date actors or musicians or anyone in entertainment because I can just be normal Syd that way and it’s easiest. I look for a best friend-someone I can literally hang out with 24/7 and never get sick of.”
Now, Sweeney is focused on herself and her career, moving forward with confidence and clarity. The end of her engagement may have closed one chapter, but for the Emmy-nominated actress, the future is full of opportunity-and she’s embracing it fully.
