Sezonu sice začínal v Českých Budějovicích, bylo však veřejným tajemstvím, že jeho vztahy s koučem Motoru Ladislavem Čihákem měly k ideálu daleko. Po třech a půl letech tak v Budvar aréně skončil a zamířil do nedalekého Tábora. S touhou zabojovat s místními kohouty o postup do druhé nejvyšší soutěže, ale hlavně proto, aby byl nablízku své nemocné ženě, která statečně bojovala s opakovaně se vracející zákeřnou nemocí.
„Byl jsem už dříve domluvený, že tady budu v kariéře pokračovat, ale úmrtí mé manželky do toho pochopitelně zasáhlo. Právě ona ale chtěla, abych hrál dál, a slíbil jsem jí to. Ten slib chci splnit, a proto jsem se rozhodl, že ještě budu pokračovat,“ vysvětluje Pech pro klubový web Tábora, proč se mu upsal na další rok.
„Je to vlastně i kvůli mým malým klukům, aby mě ještě viděli hrát a mohli na nás chodit. Navíc mě přemlouvali i rodiče manželky, abych hrál dál, což pro mě samozřejmě bylo také hodně důležité,“ pokračuje extraligový šampion s Karlovými Vary z roku 2009 a bývalý hráč Sparty a Motoru, jenž v extralize odehrál celkem 1104 zápasů s bilancí 762 kanadských bodů.
Pech dres Tábora obléká od ledna, ve 20 duelech zapsal šest gólů a 21 asistencí. První ligu si zahraje po dlouhých dvaceti letech, tehdy si ji vyzkoušel za Kadaň.
„Jsme teď v první lize nováčkem, takže nás nečeká nic jednoduchého. Bylo by dobré, kdybychom si po celou sezonu udržovali dobrou a konstantní výkonnost a hráli hokej, který by zároveň lidi bavil, a rádi na něj chodili,“ těší už se Pech na zářijový start nového ročníku.

„Vím, že ne vždy je to možné, ale já chci každý zápas vyhrát. Bylo by tedy fajn, abychom hráli někde nahoře a zase tady v Táboře tu laťku o kousek posunuli. A třeba to i vyhráli, proč ne…?! To jediné mi vlastně v českém hokeji ještě chybí,“ usmívá se Pech.
