Los dos jóvenes fallecidos ayer en un accidente de tráfico en la localidad burgalesa de Espinosa de los Monteros eran ciclistas y residentes en Vitoria y Alsasua (Navarra).
Según ha confirmado este lunes la Federación Alavesa de Ciclismo, los fallecidos son Ibai Hoyos, de 19 años, de Vitoria, y Mikel Regil, de 20 años, de Alsasua, “apasionados del ciclismo y de los rallyes”.
En este accidente resultaron heridos otros tres jóvenes de entre 18 y 20 años, dos de los cuales se encuentran en estado crítico y un tercero menos grave.
De los tres heridos, dos residen también en Vitoria y Alsasua respectivamente, han confirmado fuentes municipales y de la Guardia Civil.
Ibai Hoyos, el joven vitoriano fallecido, viajaba en el asiento central trasero. Por su parte el conductor del vehículo siniestrado era el joven de Alsasua que también perdió la vida al precipitarse el coche en el que viajaban los cinco por una ladera de 200 metros, a la altura del kilómetro 10 de la BU-570, en el término municipal de Espinosa de los Monteros.
De los heridos, uno fue trasladado en helicóptero medicalizado al Complejo Asistencial de Burgos, otro evacuado en UVI móvil y el tercero en ambulancia de soporte vital básico, estos dos últimos al Hospital de Cruces de Bizkaia.
Ibai Hoyos y Mikel Regil eran ciclistas y el año pasado defendieron los colores del equipo Electro Alavesa, ha explicado la Federación de Ciclismo de este territorio, que ha asegurado que “el pelotón alavés está hoy roto de dolor”.
Al parecer los jóvenes volvían a sus domicilios tras acudir al rally de Hoznayo, en Cantabria.
