Wenn sich die Schalker Profis Videos ansehen, die Ansprachen von ihrem neuen Trainer Miron Muslic (42) zeigen, werden sie schnell merken, dass sie sich umstellen müssen.
Klar, direkt, wortgewandt, emphatisch, fordernd. Der Österreicher mit bosnischer Herkunft ist einer, der die Mannschaft bei der Ehre packt. Ab dem 21. Juni, wenn der Zweitligist das Training wieder aufnimmt, werden die Spieler es erstmals live erleben. Und die Bosse sind sich sicher: Muslic wird die behäbige, leise Mannschaft aufwecken. Dazu passt: Er lässt extrem laufintensiven, mutigen Fußball spielen.
SPORT BILD kennt die Geheimnisse hinter der Verpflichtung des neuen Hoffnungsträger-Trainers.
► Der Revier-Klub analysierte Muslic bis ins kleinste Detail. Sogar ein Sportpsychologe wurde beauftragt, um ein Profil über ihn zu erstellen. Er untersuchte zum Beispiel das Verhalten nach Niederlagen, ermittelte seinen Umgang mit Spielern. Mehr noch: Der Psychologe und die Bosse werteten sogar TV-Interviews aus, die Muslic in seiner Zeit bei Plymouth und zuvor bei Cercle Brügge gab. So wollen sie Unruhe wie etwa zuletzt mit Ex-Trainer Kees van Wonderen (56) verhindern, der anfangs so häufig erzählte, dass er kein Harry Potter sei und nicht zaubern könne, bis der Klub ihm diese Aussage verbot.
[–>► Die Muslic-Wahl und die Verhandlungen waren Chefsache – vom neuen Sport-Vorstand Frank Baumann (49). Das erste Gespräch mit dem Trainer fand in Deutschland statt. Kaderplaner Ben Manga (51) und Sportdirektor Youri Mulder (56) waren anwesend, Baumann ließ sich aus terminlichen Gründen per Videocall dazuschalten. Für das finale Gespräch reiste Baumann alleine nach Österreich, wo er sich mit Muslic einigte. Matthias Tillmann (41), Vorstandsboss bei Schalke, telefonierte lediglich einmal mit ihm, blieb außen vor.
► An Selbstvertrauen mangelt es Muslic nicht: Auf seinen Wunsch hin wurde in seinem Schalke-Vertrag eine Ausstiegsklausel verankert. Für den Fall, dass er mit S04 dermaßen durchstartet, dass er schon bald bei höherklassigen Klubs auf dem Zettel steht. Die Klausel ist nach Ländern und Erfolgen des möglichen Interessenten gestaffelt – und bewegt sich im Bereich zwischen fünf und acht Millionen Euro. Schalke, als Trainer-Fresser bekannt (neun feste Trainer seit 2019), soll plötzlich zum Sprungbrett werden.
[–>► Dass Schalke Muslic überhaupt verpflichten konnte, liegt vor allem an ihm selbst. Denn: Bei seinem Ex-Klub Plymouth hatte er eine Ausstiegsklausel, die rund 1,6 Millionen Euro betrug – zu viel für Schalke. Muslic suchte dann das Gespräch mit den Bossen des englischen Zweitliga-Absteigers und teilte ihnen unmissverständlich mit, dass sich der Klub mit Schalke einigen solle. Er selbst habe keinerlei Interesse mehr, für Plymouth zu arbeiten. Muslic erpresste seinen Abgang. Am Ende einigten sich die Parteien auf eine Ablöse von 700 000 Euro.
