Hammer-Transfer auf dem TV-Markt!
Kurz nach seinem Rücktritt aus dem Fußball übernimmt Weltmeister Mats Hummels (36) bereits eine neue prominente Aufgabe. Der langjährige Nationalspieler verstärkt als Experte die Fußball-Crew von der Streaming-Plattform Prime Video. Dort kommt er ab der nächsten Saison bei den Übertragungen aus der Champions League zum Einsatz.
„Ich habe ja schon in meiner Doku angekündigt, dass die Rolle als TV-Experte vermutlich mein erster beruflicher Schritt nach meiner aktiven Karriere sein wird“, sagt Hummels zu BILD. „Da passt Prime Video für mich perfekt. Dienstagabend, Top-Spiel der Champions League, dazu in einer Expertenrunde, auf die ich richtig Lust habe.“

Bei Prime Video bildet Hummels dann ein Experten-Team mit Matthias Sammer (57), Christoph Kramer (34), Tabea Kemme (33) und Josie Henning (35). Sie werden sich bei den Partien der Königsklasse abwechseln.
„Mats Hummels vereint enorme Erfahrung als Weltmeister und Champions League-Finalist mit Eloquenz und charismatischem Auftreten. Das alles passt perfekt und wir sind sehr stolz darauf Mats für unsere Live-Übertragung gewonnen zu haben“, sagt Clemens von Thielmann, Leiter Live Sport bei Prime Video Deutschland.
[–>Für Hummels spricht neben seiner Wortgewandtheit auch, dass er Borussia Dortmund und den FC Bayern aus eigener Erfahrung kennt. Für den BVB spielte er in neun Saisons in der Champions League, mit den Bayern dreimal. Insgesamt hat er 90 Einsätze in der Königsklasse, kam 2023/24 mit Dortmund bis ins Finale.
Die Familie Hummels hat TV-Erfahrung: Bruder Jonas (34) ist bereits seit Jahren für das Fernsehen im Einsatz, unter anderem als DAZN-Experte.
Am 26. Mai kam Hummels für die AS Rom gegen den FC Turin zum letzten Mal in seiner Karriere zum Einsatz. Am 2. August 2006 hatte er für Bayern im Halbfinale des Ligapokal gegen Schalke (4:1 n. E.) debütiert.
Friedrich folgt als Moderator auf Schlüter
Eine weitere wichtige Personalie: Kommentator Jonas Friedrich (45) übernimmt die Rolle des Hauptmoderators der Übertragungen. Dort folgt er auf Alex Schlüter (40), der zur nächsten Saison zur ARD wechselt und ab 30. Juni noch durch die Wimbledon-Übertragungen für Prime Video führt.

„Auch in meiner neuen Rolle dreht sich alles nur um eines: die Faszination Champions League“, sagt Jonas Friedrich. „Ich freu’ mich auf großartige Spiele und natürlich darauf, die in meinen Augen hochkarätigste Fußballsendung Deutschlands moderieren zu dürfen.“

Prime Video überträgt jeweils dienstags das Top-Spiel des Abends, hat das Erstwahlrecht. Insgesamt gibt es von der letzten Qualifikationsrunde über die Ligaphase bis zur K.o.-Runde (inklusive Halbfinale) 17 Partien auf der Amazon-Plattform. Um die Spiele sehen zu können, benötigt man ein Amazon-Prime-Abo (8,99 Euro pro Monat bzw. 89,90 Euro im Jahr).
