Die MT Melsungen verabschiedet sich am vorletzten Spieltag endgültig aus dem Meisterrennen der Daikin Handball-Bundesliga. Der Tabellendritte vergeigt nach 16 Siegen in 16 Heimspielen (!) ausgerechnet sein allerletztes Match zu Hause — und damit auch seine Titelchance. Gegen den TBV Lemgo-Lippe reicht es trotz Mega-Aufholjagd nur zu einem 26:26.

Die MT legt einen Schlaf-Start hin, trifft in den ersten vier Minuten gar nicht und liegt nach zehn Minuten 2:6 hinten. Besser wird es nicht. Eher schlimmer. 5:10 nach 15 Minuten. 7:13 nach 21 Minuten.

Melsungen nimmt da schon die zweite Auszeit und Trainer Roberto Garcia Parrondo ist komplett auf der Palme, schimpft auf Englisch: „Wir wollen kämpfen, deswegen sind wir heute hier! Aber wir spielen im Moment einen Scheißdreck! Wir liegen mit sieben zurück …“

Dyn-Kommentator Markus Götz: „So Leute, da musste mal einer Dampf ablassen. Das kann ich unmöglich eins zu eins übersetzen. Er darf das so sagen, bringt es auf den Punkt. Das ist gar nichts, was die MT in den ersten 20 Minuten gespielt hat. Ein müder, ein schlapper Auftritt. Das ist menschlich nachvollziehbar, wenn du weißt, was sie für ein Pensum abgerissen haben. Aber das ist natürlich nicht das, was man sich vorgestellt hat.“

Bezeichnend: Melsungens letzter Wurf mit dem Pausenpfiff landet zwar im Tor, doch als die Uhr abgelaufen ist, hatte der Ball die Torlinie noch nicht überschritten – die Schiris nehmen den Treffer nach Videostudium zurück. Dafür steht ein 11:16-Rückstand inklusive 7 (!) technischer Fehler zur Pause für den bisherigen Titelanwärter.

Götz: „Eine völlig gebrauchte erste Hälfte von der MT Melsungen. Im Moment sieht es so aus, als würden sie an diesem 33. Spieltag die großen Sachen aus den Augen verlieren, verspielen. 11:16, meine Güte.“

MT-Profi Arnar Arnarsson: „Wir sind überhaupt nicht ins Spiel gekommen, unsere Abwehr hält nicht und Lemgo macht das gut.“

Und dieser zweite Durchgang hat es noch mal richtig in sich. Weil Melsungen auch im 55. Saisonspiel noch mal alle Kräfte mobilisiert. Und tatsächlich noch mal rankommt! 16 Minuten vor Schluss ist der TBV-Vorsprung auf einen geschmolzen. Die MT ist drauf und dran das Ding zu drehen.

Auszeit Lemgo. Coach Florian Kehrmann versucht sein Team zu beruhigen: „Hey Jungs, es ist nichts passiert, wir führen mit einem Tor auswärts.“ Aber nicht mehr lange. Per Siebenmeter gleicht die MT durch Barrufet zum 21:21. Alles auf Anfang!

Kommentator Götz: „Sie dürfen wieder träumen!“ Melsungen trifft zum 23:22, doch die erstmalige Führung im gesamten Spiel hält keine fünf Sekunden, weil Lemgo per Schneller Mitte ins leere MT-Tor trifft (49).

Bitter: Bei 23:23 verwirft Barrufet den Siebenmeter, verpasst die abermalige Führung (52.). Die holt sich dafür Lemgo zurück (24:23/53.). Es bleibt hochspannend bis zur allerletzten Sekunde. Die große Siegchance hat Melsungens 2,15-Meter-Riese Kristopnas 19 Sekunden vor Ende, doch sein Gewaltwurf landet an der Unterkante der Latte. Wie bitter!

Damit ist praktisch klar: Melsungen (jetzt 53 Punkte) muss seine Meisterträume begraben, da der Zweite Magdeburg gegen Flensburg klar gewann und jetzt 55 Zähler auf dem Konto und das deutlich bessere Torverhältnis hat (+153 zu +109).

Dazu kann der bisherige Tabellenführer Füchse Berlin (54 Punkte) am Donnerstag noch gegen Gummersbach nachlegen. Gewinnen die zuletzt so starken Füchse, wovon auszugehen ist, ist für die MT auch rechnerisch die Chance auf den Titel futsch.
