Sedmadvacetiletá Sabalenková má na kontě dva tituly z Australian Open a jeden z US Open. Aby rodačka z Minsku rozšířila grandslamovou sbírku o premiérový antukový vavřín, musí v semifinále ukončit úctyhodnou vítěznou sérii Šwiatekové z Roland Garros, která aktuálně čítá rekordních 26 utkání.
Pro světovou jedničku byl úterní postup do semifinále přes Číňanku Qinwen Zheng (7:6, 6:3) vyrovnáním pařížského maxima z roku 2023. Svou letošní bilanci na antuce si tím Sabalenková vylepšila na 16:2. Její suverénní průlet pavoukem potvrzuje i fakt, že v cestě do semifinále neztratila jediný set.

Polka Iga Šwiateková je na Roland Garros jako doma.
To ovšem platí i o její dnešní soupeřce, která bude útočit na první finálovou účast na turnajích velké čtyřky od loňského French Open. Aktuální světová pětka Šwiateková si ve čtvrtfinále poradila s Ukrajinkou Svitolinovou 6:1, 7:5.
Na antuce letos Polka ze čtrnácti zápasů padla ve třech případech. Ve prospěch čtyřiadvacetileté rodačky z Varšavy hraje vzájemná bilance 8:4, sázkové kanceláře i tak mírně favorizují světovou jedničku. Zajímavostí je, že na grandslamu se obě hráčky potkaly jen jedinkrát, v roce 2022 se z postupu do finále US Open radovala Šwiateková.
Druhé semifinále obstarají druhá nasazená Američanka Coco Gauffová a domácí držitelka divoké karty, hráčka až ze čtvrté stovky žebříčku Lois Boissonová.
Titul ve smíšené čtyřhře
Smíšenou čtyřhru na tenisovém Roland Garros vyhrála italská dvojice Andrea Vavassori, Sara Erraniová. Ve finále na antukovém dvorci Philippea Chatriera v Paříži porazili americký pár Evan King, Taylor Townsendová 6:4, 6:2. Po loňském triumfu na US Open vybojovali druhý společný grandslamový titul.
Vavassori a Eraniová, kteří plnili roli nasazených trojek, prošli turnajem bez ztráty setu. Finále proti turnajovým čtyřkám vyhráli za hodinu a 12 minut. V utkání nepřišli ani jednou o servis, soupeřovo podání naopak prolomili třikrát. King s Townsendovou doplatili na 25 nevynucených chyb.
Osmatřicetiletá Errraniová, která loni ve francouzské metropoli vybojovala olympijské zlato z deblu, získala už sedmý grandslamový titul. Zbývajících pět má z ženské čtyřhry. O osm let mladší Vavassori před rokem v Paříži ve finále čtyřhry neuspěl.
