The 2025 NFL Draft will go down in history after a media personality like Shedeur Sanders dominated the event. The former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback was projected to be a first-round pick, but surprisingly, he fell and wasn’t selected until the fifth round by the Cleveland Browns.
QB Jaxson Dart clutches wild win over Shedeur Sanders and Ashton Jeanty in skill challenge
After the Tennessee Titans took Cam Ward with the first overall pick, three teams were in desperate need of a quarterback: the New Orleans Saints, New York Giants, and Pittsburgh Steelers. All of those teams were linked to Shedeur Sanders, but in the end, they chose other quarterbacks.
The most talked-about case was, without a doubt, the New York Giants. In the days leading up to the Draft, they even held personal interviews with Shedeur Sanders. But in the end, they made the biggest shock of the night by trading up at the end of the first round to select Jaxson Dart. That was the moment Shedeur Sanders’ slide began.
Eli Manning Eyes Minority Stake in NFL’s New York Giants
Jaxson Dart had a horrible day with the New York Giants
OTAs are underway at various NFL training camps. All eyes are on the Cleveland Browns, where four quarterbacks are engaged in an “open competition” for the starting job – one of them being Shedeur Sanders. But something similar is happening in New York as well.
The New York Giants signed Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston in free agency. As previously mentioned, they drafted Jaxson Dart, and they’re still hanging on to the previous project with Tommy DeVito.
Head Coach Brian Daboll mentioned that Wilson would be the starter at first, but we all know that at some point, we’ll have to see Jaxson Dart to find out what he’s made of – especially since his performance could determine the future of Brian Daboll’s tenure.
Excitement was high around Jaxson Dart at the Giants’ camp, but today he suffered a major setback. His numbers were troubling: he completed just 5 of 9 passes, threw no touchdowns, and was intercepted twice. That set off alarm bells for the team in the Big Apple.
Of course, these are just practices, but Jaxson Dart will still have to wait behind Russell Wilson before getting his NFL opportunity. Still, when that time comes, we’ll see whether the Giants end up regretting their decision to pass on Shedeur Sanders.
