Social media was sent into overdrive earlier this week when bizarre claims surfaced about former UFC fighter Nick Diaz. A woman, claiming to be his girlfriend, posted a lengthy Instagram story alleging Diaz had been kidnapped, drugged, and taken against his will to a rehab center in Mexico.
She went further, suggesting he was under surveillance, had lost contact with friends and family, and was being controlled by his cousin.
The internet ran with it. Rumors snowballed into outlandish theories-some speculated Diaz had been cloned, others suggested cartel involvement, and a few even pushed the idea that he’d joined a terrorist organization.
But amid the growing chaos, those closest to Diaz stepped in to shut it all down.
Diaz is fine, training, and very much single
Cesar Gracie, Diaz’s longtime coach and confidant, swiftly responded with a post of his own: a recent photo of himself and Diaz training together.
“Nick is healthy and well. Not cloned or kidnapped. Has not joined MS13. Does not have a girlfriend but is probably looking,” Gracie wrote. That comment alone debunked all the swirling rumors and highlighted the absurdity of the claims.
Further undermining the hysteria was Nate Diaz, Nick’s brother, who posted casually from a wedding event with no sense of urgency or concern. No statements, no clarifications – just business as usual. And that’s the point. There was never any real crisis.
The woman’s original story has since been deleted, leaving only speculation about her relationship to Diaz and why she posted such an alarming tale. Meanwhile, Nick himself has remained silent on the issue, letting those close to him speak on his behalf.
In the end, Diaz’s alleged disappearance was nothing more than another viral exaggeration. He’s not in danger, not in rehab, not with a secret partner, and certainly not living a double life. He’s training, healthy, and – according to his coach – still on the lookout for a girlfriend.
