Wegen Malle-Trip der Löwen – Handball-Legende geht auf Gensheimer los

Iker Romero (44) und Uwe Gensheimer (38) waren als Aktive ganz große Handballspieler. In ihren neuen Rollen spielen sie jetzt die Rollen in einem Riesen-Zoff zum Abschluss der Saison in der Daikin Handball-Bundesliga.

Bietigheim-Trainer Romero fährt live im TV eine Voll-Attacke gegen Löwen-Sportdirektor Gensheimer.

Grund: Der Mannschaftsausflug der Rhein-Neckar Löwen nach Mallorca.

Viele Spieler der Löwen waren am spielfreien Wochenende Ende Mai zu einem Kurz-Trip nach Malle aufgebrochen. Nach ihrer Rückkehr vergeigten sie das Heimspiel gegen den TVB Stuttgart komplett, verloren gegen den Abstiegskandidaten 26:33 (SPORT BILD berichtete).

Jetzt ist klar: Es waren zwei entscheidende Punkte im Abstiegskampf. Der TVB hielt in letzter Minute die Klasse durch einen 29:28-Sieg gegen Leipzig, sammelte mit 18:50 Punkten einen Zähler mehr als Bietigheim, das in die 2. Liga muss.

Nach dem Abstieg durch das 25:35 gegen Magdeburg brach es aus Romero am Dyn-Mikrofon bei Lea Rostek und Florian Schmidt-Sommerfeld heraus: „Erlangen hat sein Bestes gegeben, Stuttgart hat sein Bestes gegeben, sie haben mehr Etat, das ist fair. Wenn eine Mannschaft nach Malle geht vor dem Stuttgart-Spiel, die Rhein-Neckar Löwen, das ist nicht fair.“

Die Handball-Legende (u.a. Weltmeister und Champions-League-Sieger als Spieler) legt eine knallharte Abrechnung nach: „Diese zwei Punkte haben gereicht. Ich sage nicht, ob wir gewonnen haben oder nicht – aber diese Jungs (er meint seine Mannschaft, d. Red.) haben gekämpft. Sie gehen morgen nach Malle.“

Dann richtet er sich direkt an die Löwen, Sportdirektor Uwe Gensheimer und Trainer Sebastian Hinze geht er sogar namentlich an: „Aber das kommt immer zurück. (…) Das ist passiert mit den Rhein-Neckar Löwen! Sebastian Hinze, Uwe Gensheimer und alle Spieler: Das werde ich niemals vergessen! Nicht wegen mir“ – Romero zeigt auf seine Mannschaft – „wegen diesen 17 Leuten.“

Romero wird laut: „Ohne Respekt! Null, NULL Respekt! Das geht nicht!“

[–>SPORT BILD weiß: Auch bei den Löwen hatte es intern wegen des Trips und der anschließenden Katastrophen-Leistung geknallt. Trainer Hinze hatte bereits in der vergangenen Woche gesagt: „Was die Jungs in ihrer Freizeit machen, ist ihr Ding. Aber du darfst dann nicht so auftreten.“

Sportdirektor Gensheimer reagierte gegenüber SPORT BILD am Sonntagabend schmallippig auf Romeros Ausbruch: „Ich habe davon gehört, ja. Ich hatte mit Iker schon Kontakt. Mehr gibt’s dazu gerade nicht zu sagen.“

Fakt ist: Wären die Löwen gegen den TVB so aufgetreten wie am letzten Spieltag, als sie den Füchsen auf dem Weg zum Titel alles abverlangten, wäre die Partie wohl anders ausgegangen.

Fakt ist allerdings auch: Stuttgart hatte in seinem letzten Heimspiel große Problem mit einer giftigen und griffigen Leipziger Mannschaft, der SC DHfK holte in einem für sich bedeutungslosen Spiel alles aus sich raus. Noch am Mittwoch hatte sich Leipzig in eigener Halle abschlachten lassen, verlor nach einem blutleeren Auftritt mit neun Toren – gegen die SG BBM Bietigheim.
