Star-Stürmer Robert Lewandowski (36) will unter dem derzeitigen Trainer Michal Probierz (52) nicht mehr für Polens Nationalmannschaft spielen!

„Angesichts der Umstände und des Vertrauensverlusts in den Trainer der polnischen Nationalmannschaft habe ich beschlossen, meine Tätigkeit in der polnischen Nationalmannschaft einzustellen, solange er im Amt ist“, schrieb Lewandowski am Sonntagabend bei X.

[–>Nationaltrainer Probierz ist seit September 2023 im Amt, hatte zuvor die polnische U21 betreut. Als Spieler war er wie Lewandowski (Dortmund und Bayern) in Deutschland aktiv, kickte zwischen 1993 und 1997 für den KFC Uerdingen und Wattenscheid 09.

Barça-Stürmer Lewandowski hat bisher 158 Länderspiele für Polen bestritten – und vorerst wird kein Weiteres dazukommen. Es sei denn, Probierz wird gefeuert.

Lewandowski in seiner Stellungnahme: „Ich hoffe, dass mir noch einmal die Gelegenheit gegeben wird, für die weltweit besten Fans zu spielen.“

Lewandowski-Rücktritt wegen Absetzung als Kapitän?

Ein möglicher Grund für die knallharte Lewy-Entscheidung könnte der Probierz-Entschluss sein, den Sturm-Star als Kapitän abzusetzen. Der polnische Verband hatte am Sonntag in einer kurzen Erklärung bekannt geben, dass Piotr Zieliński „der neue Kapitän der Nationalmannschaft ist“.

Weiter heißt es: „Der Trainer hat Robert Lewandowski, das ganze Team und den Trainerstaff persönlich über seine Entscheidung informiert.“

Seine Teilnahme an den Länderspielen gegen Moldau (2:0) und Finnland (am 10. Juni) hatte er abgesagt. Das sei wohl mit Probierz abgesprochen gewesen.

Die polnischen Medien schreiben unterdessen von einem „Erdbeben in der polnischen Nationalmannschaft“ („Przeglad Sportowy“). Spanische Medien berichten zudem, dass Lewandowski zuletzt wütend über die taktische Ausrichtung der Mannschaft gewesen sein soll.
