Josh Naylor hit a walk-off grand slam with one out in the 11th inning and the Arizona Diamondbacks recovered from a blown lead in the ninth for an 8-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners in Phoenix on Monday.

Ketel Marte was intentionally walked with one out in the 11th and Geraldo Perdomo walked to load the bases off Carlos Vargas (1-5) before Naylor’s third hit of the game helped the D-backs break a three-game losing streak.

Arizona appeared in complete control entering the ninth before the Mariners scored four runs with two outs to tie it at 4.

Donovan Solano and Cole Young had RBI singles off Jeff Brigham, who entered with two outs and a runner on first after D-backs closer Justin Martinez was removed when he sustained an apparent injury on a 1-0 pitch to Solano.

Dominic Canzone, recalled from Triple-A Tacoma earlier in the day, hit a 3-2 pitch for a 450-foot, two-run homer to tie the game.

Jalen Beeks (2-0) pitched the top of the 11th for the victory.

Arizona’s Corbin Carroll homered on the first pitch in the last of the first inning for his 19th of the year. Diamondbacks starter Merrill Kelly pitched six scoreless innings to extend his streak of scoreless innings to 15.

Ketel Marte extended his on-base streak to 22 games with an RBI single in the fifth for a 2-0 lead, and Naylor and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had run-scoring hits in the seventh to make it 4-0.

Young, Randy Arozarena, J.P. Crawford and Julio Rodriguez had two hits apiece for the Mariners, who have lost six of seven and 13 of 19.

Seattle starter Emerson Hancock gave up two runs and six hits in five innings, with three strikeouts and three walks.

The Mariners put two runners on base twice against Kelly but could not score as the D-backs built their lead.

Jorge Polanco and Arozarena singled to open the second inning, but Kelly got Rowdy Tellez to ground into a double play and struck out Miles Mastrobuoni.

Ben Williamson singled and Crawford walked to open the sixth inning ahead of the Mariners’ 2-3-4 hitters. Neither moved. Rodriguez struck out, Cal Raleigh flied out and Polanco grounded out.

2025 Fantasy Football: Wake up! Keon Coleman is Dave Richard’s favorite sleeper of the summer

It's been a long time since Josh Allen's had a stud receiver to throw to. One whole year. From 2020 to 2023, Stefon Diggs was the alpha in the Bills offense, wrangling anywhere from 9.4 to 10.4 targets per game depending on the season with at least 1,100 yards and eight scores per year. We've seen a receiver do very well with Allen before. We're going to again. But it's a different kind of receiver this time -- Diggs was a smaller, shiftier, speedier receiver who drove defenses batty. Keon Coleman is bigger and stronger ... but if there's anything he proved this summer, it's that he can be shifty and can use quick feet to help him get open.  Since the end of last season, Coleman's worked to improve his route-running and agility. It's paid off in spades this […]

Napheesa Collier injury update: Lynx star and WNBA MVP favorite remains out Friday vs. Fever

Minnesota Lynx star and WNBA MVP favorite Napheesa Collier will remain out for her team's game against the Indiana Fever on Friday night. Collier, who has not played since Aug. 2 due to a sprained right ankle, is closing in on a return. She was initially listed as questionable and went through pre-game warm-ups before being ruled out. Collier's injury, which occurred during the Lynx's historic 53-point win over the Las Vegas Aces, stirred controversy because it happened late in the third quarter with her team up by 43 points. Many wondered why Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve still had her superstar in the game. "I don't think about those things," Reeve said at the time. "It's the third quarter of a game on someone else's floor, I don't think the game is over. I don't think like that. She had a sub there […]
