The Cleveland Browns are completely divided over the quarterback position, which is being fiercely contested by four hungry players aiming to lead the offense next season. The contenders include veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, as well as rookies Dillon Gabriel and, most notably, Shedeur Sanders.

Despite all the attention surrounding that issue, the Browns also said goodbye to their most important player in recent years – a top-level talent: Nick Chubb, who is now part of the Houston Texans, a team that is undoubtedly a contender in the AFC.
Chubb was selected in the second round of the 2018 Draft and quickly earned respect as one of the best running backs in the NFL, especially known for his explosiveness. It’s worth remembering that Chubb surpassed 1,000 rushing yards in four straight seasons from 2019 to 2022 – a true standout.
Injuries hit Nick Chubb hard
In Week 2 of the 2023 season, Chubb suffered a serious left knee injury – the same knee he injured in college. That injury ended his season and he never quite returned to being the same player with the Browns.
Due to those injury concerns, Chubb remained a free agent for a long time until the Texans finally showed interest. At his introductory press conference as a Houston Texan, he was asked about the challenges that have affected him in recent years.
“That’s all behind me,” said Chubb. “Injuries happen. With what happened to me, it takes about two years to really get back. So, I’m over the worst of it. I was home, training all offseason where I’ve always trained since high school. I was able to get a full year of doing what I do best. Now, I’m feeling as good as I have in a long time.”
Chubb also revealed that he’s back to performing at the same level he was when he was healthy. Life has now given him a second chance – and not just with any team, but with the Houston Texans, a team that has gradually evolved and become the leaders of the AFC South.
