Der Handball-Hype geht weiter!

Kaum ist die Meisterschale vergeben, kommt schon das nächste Ball-Highlight. Am Wochenende steigt das „Truckscout24 Final4“ der EHF-Champions-League in Köln. Mit dabei die zwei besten deutschen Teams Füchse Berlin und der SC Magdeburg.

Mit dabei sind auch der große FC Barcelona (Spanien) und HBC Nantes (Frankreich). Die deutschen Fans hoffen insgeheim auf ein deutsches Superfinale – Meister Berlin gegen Vize-Meister Magdeburg. Mit dem Dauerduell um den Titel begann die Saison – den Supercup gewannen die Füchse 32:30 und auch die Meisterschale ging nach Berlin. Magdeburg könnte sich jetzt mit dem Champions-League-Titel revanchieren.

Magdeburgs Trainer Bennet Wiegert (43) dazu auf SPORT BILD Nachfrage: „Die Champions League ist eine andere Nummer, ein anderer Wettbewerb. Ein anderer Titel. Den ich separiert bewerte. Und den wir einfach gewinnen wollen. Und ich weiß, wie schwer das ist. Das ist wahrscheinlich der schwerste, zu gewinnende Titel von allen. Deswegen beschäftige ich mich da nicht mit irgendwelchen Revanche-Gedanken.“

Und Wiegert ergänzt: „Für uns geht es erst einmal maximal darum, überhaupt ein Finale spielen zu dürfen. Und das wird ein harter Weg im Halbfinale gegen Barcelona. Ich würde mir einfach ein Finale für den SC Magdeburg wünschen. Und da ist mir der Gegner relativ egal.“

Und Füchse-Trainer Jaron Siewert (31) sagt: „Wir sind im Final4 die absoluten Neulinge, müssen schnell dort den Fokus finden. Die Mannschaft hat gesagt, wir reisen da jetzt nicht als Deutscher Meister hin. Die Champions League ist ein anderer Wettbewerb, da ist eine Meisterschaft nichts wert. Aber wenn wir schon da sind, wollen wir auch gewinnen.“

Wo kann ich die Spiele sehen?

Sonnabend, 14. Juni: 1. Halbfinale Füchse Berlin gegen HBC Nantes (15 Uhr) 2. Halbfinale FC Barcelona gegen SC Magdeburg (18 Uhr). Sonntag, 15. Juni: Spiel um Platz 3 (15 Uhr), Finale (18 Uhr). Streaminganbieter Dyn zeigt alle Partien. Der Sender DF1 zeigt die Spiele im Free-TV (in Kooperation mit DAZN). Bei sportschau.de gibt es einen Audio-Livestream.

Gibt es noch Karten?

Es wird ein Rekord-Finale. David Szlezak (51), EHF-Marketing-Boss sagt: „Wir sind eigentlich ausverkauft, aber wir suchen noch nach Möglichkeiten mit der Lanxess Arena zusätzliche Plätze zu schaffen, der Prozess läuft noch. Wir haben schon neue Plätze hinter den Toren geschaffen. Durch diese Maßnahmen knacken wir zum ersten Mal die Marke von 20.000 Zuschauern.“

Wer hat die besten Chancen?

Der HBC Nantes gilt als Underdog. Der Klub hat seine Ziele schon jetzt weit übertroffen. Eigentlich setzte sich das Team von Trainer Gregory Cojean (47) das Ziel, die K.o.-Phase zu erreichen. Sind immer für eine Überraschung gut

Der FC Barcelona ist der ausgeruhte Topfavorit. 12-mal gewann der Rekordmeister die Königsklasse, drei der Titel stammen aus den letzten vier Jahren. Der Kader ist mit Topstars wie Dika Mem, Aleix Gomez oder Torhüter-Star Emil Nielsen gespickt.

Der SC Magdeburg will seinen Titel von 2023 wiederholen. In der Gruppenphase hat der SCM Barca schon besiegt, damals angeführt von Spielmacher Gisli Kristjansson. Doch dessen Einsatz ist wegen Schulterproblemen fraglich. Das wäre eine große Schwächung.

Die Füchse Berlin reisen als frischer Deutscher Meister mit viel Rückenwind an. Ihre größte Waffe ist Welthandballer Mathias Gidsel (26). In der Champions-League-Saison warf er schon 126 Tore, kann auch in diesem Wettbewerb zu werden.

Rekorde verursacht auch das mediale Interesse: 300 Journalisten, 35 TV-Stationen, Übertragung in 80 Länder. Dazu noch mehr Kameras für noch mehr coole Handball-Bilder. David Szlezak: „Unsere Strategie ist das Turnier 360 Grad zu zeigen, mehr als 40 Kameras haben wir für die Live-Übertragung. Begleitet wird auch schon das Warm-up.“ Für die Fans gibts für die Eröffnungsshow erstmals LED-Armbänder wie bei Pop-Konzerten, einen Kran mit Ballon, um die Arena von oben zu sehen, eine Fan-Zone (täglich ab 12.30 Uhr) und am Freitag um 17.30 Uhr schon die Opening Party mit den Teams.
