Liverpool have reached an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen for the transfer of 22-year-old German footballer Florian Wirtz for 137.5 million euros
The transfer includes an initial payment of €117.5 million (£100 million) and a further €18.8 million (£16 million) in variables and one of European football’s great gems is expected to sign with the Anfield club for the next five years, until 2030, as The Athletic reported today.

This fee represents a record figure for the current Premier League champions, but also for the entire competition in its history, surpassing the highest transfer so far, that of Moises Caicedo to Chelsea, for a total amount of 133 million euros.
In recent days, there was talk of a deal worth 150 million euros, which was what the German club demanded, with Wirtz under contract until June 30, 2027. However, in the last few hours, the deal has been closed for a slightly lower amount and with some variables depending on objectives.
Bayern Munich withdrew from the race
Wirtz was also on Bayern Munich’s radar this summer, but the high price demanded by the Leverkusen club and the insistence of the team led by Arne Slot were key to the midfielder ending up informing of his desire to land at Anfield.
Before that, it had already been reported from Germany that the full international would have informed Real Madrid, who also closely monitored the player, of his intention to sign for the current Bundesliga champion, although that also did not come to fruition.
The German midfielder registered 16 goals and 15 assists in 45 games last season, as Leverkusen finished second in the Bundesliga and reached the last 16 of the Champions League. In the previous campaign, Wirtz played a key role in winning the first Bundesliga title under Xabi Alonso, with an unbeaten season in the domestic tournament, as well as reaching the final of the Europa League scoring a total of 18 goals and providing 20 assists in 49 games.
The signing will be made official in the coming hours, confirming the ‘bombshell’ of a summer transfer window that has only just begun

Fantasy Football Week 8 Wide Receiver Preview: Waiver adds, starts, sits, numbers to know, and more
Getty Images Any week we have six teams on a bye the rankings are going to look a little comical. This is particularly true at a position that has suffered as many injuries as the wide receivers have this year. Four of the top seven wide receivers in preseason ADP are not expected to play this week. Ten of the top 24 are not currently ranked. So yeah, Week 8 rankings do not look anything like preseason rankings. Still, there are a couple of names that really stood out in the first run of my projections: Wan'Dale Robinson and Romeo Doubs.Robinson projects as a top-12 option this week in full PPR. I'll give you a second to digest that last sentence. Part of it is that he has earned it. The past three weeks, with Jaxon Dart at QB and […]
