A rather controversial incident occurred yesterday when in the game between the Yankees and the Red Sox, manager Aaron Boone and player DJ LeMahieu were ejected. It all happened after a questionable play that triggered a heated discussion. In this way, the historic rivalry between the two teams added a new chapter that did not go unnoticed in the world of baseball.
The moment of controversy came in the 10th inning with the score tied. That’s when DJ LeMahieu hit a sinker that quickly went down the first base line. However, umpire Jeremie Rehak called it foul, which angered the Yankees player and his teammates also felt aggrieved, as for them the ball hit on the chalk line.

After what happened, the Yankees were quick to request a review of the play, hoping that technology would correct what they considered a giant error. However, after a prolonged review by the replay center in New York, the initial decision of foul was ratified. This confirmation ignited the fury of Aaron Boone.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone was left with an expression of disbelief and frustration. After a brief but intense discussion with the umpiring crew, Boone could not contain his indignation, furiously throwing his gum onto the field in disapproval and was quickly ejected from the game by Jeremie Rehak.
A match that continued off the pitch
While Boone’s ejection is nothing new, what was noteworthy was his reaction. After the game, the manager did not hold back and continued to add fuel to the fire. “I want them to have the courage to overturn the call. The replay should have clearly shown that it was a fair ball,” he explained with great annoyance.
In addition to Boone, the protagonist of the play, DJ LeMahieu, was also ejected. He also wanted to make his complaints after the game to increase the controversy. “I told the umpire that the call was ‘brutal,’ and I didn’t use any bad words. I’ve said worse things to umpires and never been ejected,” the player said.
