Pause? Von wegen! Borussia Dortmund hat nach dem Bundesliga-Finale nur kurz durchgeatmet – denn jetzt steht die neu reformierte Klub-WM in den USA an. Vom 14. Juni bis 13. Juli kämpfen 32 Teams aus allen sechs Kontinentalverbänden um den Weltpokal – mittendrin: der BVB!

Der BVB startet mit Rückenwind in die Klub-WM. Denn: Mit sechs Pflichtspiel-Siegen in Folge ist Dortmund das formstärkste Team der Klub-WM. Mit dem erfolgreichen Endspurt gelang doch noch die Champions-League-Qualifikation.
Zum Start wartet mit Fluminense direkt der wohl stärkste Gruppengegner auf die Truppe von Trainer Niko Kovac (53). Der Klub aus Rio de Janeiro ist vierfacher brasilianischer Meister und Copa-Libertadores-Sieger 2023. In den eigenen Reihen haben die Brasilianer bekannte Namen, wie beispielsweise Thiago Silva. Aber: Der letzte Ligatitel für Fluminense liegt schon 13 Jahre zurück – seitdem gibt es eine Meisterflaute in Rio.

Gespielt wird im MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford bei New York – der Ort, an dem auch das Finale der Klub-WM 2025 steigen wird. Aber erstmal steht die Gruppenphase für den BVB an. Um in die K.-o.-Runde einzuziehen, müssen die Borussen unter die ersten beiden der Gruppe kommen. Neben Fluminense warten noch Mamelodi Sundowns (Südafrika) und Ulsan HD (Südkorea).
